Nope, you didn't :-) But I got 37th with my "furniture" entry, which tickles me.
The backstory? My old friend Bill Courington (from HS days, on the far left) and I were visiting my newer friend Bill Neukomm (Center, who's now married to the first Bill's old girlfriend from HS days) up in Vermont and we were admiring his birds-eye maple dining table. The second Bill drove us to Rockledge Farms Woodworking nearby, the folks who had built his table.
Penelope and I had been talking for a couple of years about replacing my old, glass-top & chrome table with something warmer, so I wanted a look-see, albeit knowing full well that a custom table wouldn't be in the financial wheelhouse, right? I mean, nice hand-crafted hardwood tables cost 5-6K and up, right? Plus there's a waiting list to order one...
HOWEVER, we walked into the barn and there was this lovely plain (not birdseye) maple table of exactly the size we wanted, sitting right there looking for a buyer, and it was love at first sight. And the love became a passionate desire when I realized the price was WAY less than I'd expected for this already-existing table...
So I bought it... Penelope-unseen (gulp)... and fired off a text telling her what I'd done. I did have an escape clause, as we needed a truck and a weather window to effect the delivery, and the table-maker took my credit card info and agreed that I could cancel the order within 24 hours... So I took pics and the first Bill and I drove home to Carver the next day and sang the praises of the table to Penelope who, fortunately, liked what she was seeing. We made arrangements with the second Bill to bring the table down in his truck a few weeks later, and we rewarded Bill & Sally (the female HS friend now married to the second Bill) with a Morrocan-inspired, Lamb Merguez & Bean stew for their trouble.
A rousing time was had by all. Isn't it a gorgeous table? |

Nice story, Bear, nothing beats beautiful wood as my husband says (he was an amateur woodworker when he retired in Australia :) |

gorgeous table, congratulations! I love maple, probably my favorite type of wood, so warm and seems to be glowing from the inside. |

... and as an added benefit the delivery was timed to coincide with Robert's 75th birthday in October so we had even more to celebrate and good friends to do it with. The table sits near a sunny, south facing, bay window which is a lovely spot, especially at this time of year.
PS. We moved last year, as you may have noticed from the change in environment captured by Robert's drone. I was afraid Robert would be reluctant to make a move as the house address where we previously lived, and where Robert had lived for nearly 20 years, was #37 !!

Understandable, as #37 is prime. |
