When you run into this problem, the workaround I use is to first quote the post with the link. At that point I can see the text of the target url. Copy that, back out of the "quote post" box, and paste the url into a new browser window.
In the meantime, to save you that step this time, try using the link below:
//www.whitewolfpack.com/2015/08/canadian-photographer-captures-polar.html
fixed and parsed link

The problem is the two forward slashes at the beginning of the URL. Remove them and it works.
Boy, that bear is a pansy ;-)
