As much as you SOUght the right answer, in this case your SOUthern attribution is several thousand miles (and 150 years) off-base.

In the early 1980s I was in a band named Eclectic Shock (played a little of everything on guitars, DRUms, etc.) and given that I had the DRUdgery of also doing all the recording and artwork, I named the "company" General Eclectics (did a little of everything), Since at that time a lot of the new hip-hoppers were using stage names made from a word and a letter, GeneralE seemed a natural extension to use as a handle. It helps that it is homophonic with the synonym for "usual" and also means the top guy in Spanish, as on the internet maintaining a bit of ambiguity is easier than anonymity ... hope that's not

i absenTMIndedly clicked into this thread .. and was pleased to see that my question had been answered .. thankyou for the update GeneralE .. TMI was a real hard one .. i'm not sure .. but i doubt there are many words with that combination of letters one after the other ..
