I have a little dilemma that I was wondering about during the voting process. There is a photo in one of the challenges that I adore. Yet, I am fairly sure that it is an illegal photo.

What do I do in this situation?
Should I report it, or leave it be?

Also, it may still be legal but I am not sure.

What's your take?

Thanks,
Lee

The rules state that you vote on the assumption that it is "legal". You can then request a DQ and leave it to the Site Counsel to deliver their wisdom! I know how you feel about the really great ones. Actually, maybe I am lazy, but I haven't ever done a DQ request.

1) Vote as if it is legal.
2) Check the recommend this picture for DQ box.

If's it legal - all is well and it gets your good score. It's it's not - bye bye.

It doesn't hurt anything to send in a request. The site council will look into it. There are lots of requests, and a lot of them get validated, so don't worry about it. If it turns out it *is* an illegal picture for some reason, then it should be dq'd.

But if I really like it, why try to get it DQ-ed?

because it would be unfair to the people who did follow the rules

Plus, you are still allowed to really like DQed photos. It wouldn't be any uglier afterwards.

For me, the spirit of the challenge is to go out there and have to look at things in a new way each week. You can look at beautiful photographs in books (which I love to do), but that doesn't belong in the challenge, because it isn't the point of it for me. I love many of the flawed ones week after week; they still have so much to offer and inspire.

Another quick question (sorry)but what if you have a suspicion of multiple submissions on accounts? How is that handled? Should users speak up or is that left up tot he admins tow orry about?

i dont think much can be done about this, if someone wants to make extra accounts there is no stopping them, but if they win a ribbon, its not like they can transfer the ribbon over to their original account anyway, so their loss.

PM a member of the site council??????? I know I have seen threads about this problem. I doubt I know enough to know when a photo is "illegal" -- I never imagined what is done to digital photos before I came here!

remember that there are many families and friends who go to the same events together and photograph the same things.

Seems to me users should speak up. In the DQ box, just describe the images that look to be multiple submissions and let our Site Council members sort it out.

Thank goodness our SC people are volunteers. Our dues would be sky high pretty soon if they weren't! :>)
