After entering a zillion challenges (OK, maybe a dozen), I finally, actually got a ribbon! Thanks to all who voted for me... for the two that voted a "1" -- what were you thinking?! ;P
One person actually asked about a print, but not being a paying member, I cannot offer a print from here. I thought about jumping in with both feet -- actually becoming a paying member and all that so I could have photos on DPCPrints.com. I went to sign up and started reading all the fine print and found this in rule 6.6; "If DPChallenge.com has not made a payment of money to you for any 180 day period because you have not earned a total of at least $25.00, and without any limitation of DPChallenge.com's other rights to terminate, DPChallenge.com may terminate your Store."
So how likely is it I'll actually make $25.00 at least in 180 days? Considering what I make is = 1/2 net profit, where net profit is sales price - DPC base price (it's all in the fine print). I don't know what the base price for a photo is, but let's say for a 8x10, I set my price at $10.00. If the base price is $4.00, that means the net profit is $6, and my share of those profits is $3.00. Thus, I'd have to sell 9 prints in 180 days in order to maintain my store, right?
Of those of you with prints for sale, how many do you usually sell in a 180 day period? For those who haven't made these sales, were your stores closed down?
I want to find the answers to above before I sign up to $25.00 a year only to have my "store" dropped after 180 days. It's not like I can have any volume as each person is limted to 10Meg, or about 6 or 7 printable sized pictures. Or am I wrong about that too?

Your 10 meg only covers the dpchallenge size prints (150k or smaller). In fact, the preview you see on dpc prints is made from your printable size image and not your portfolio image. So far I have about 50 images in my portfolio and have only used up ~40% of my space.
edit: congrats on the ribbon

How interesting...I obviously wasn't nearly as thorough in reading the fine print and didn't know anything about that. What I do know...
- Base prices for photos are listed here.
- If you refer your sale (ie. they got to your photo by going to //hgpayne.dpcprints.com) you get 75% of the profit, rather than 50%. I'd say about half to 2/3 of my sales have been this way. If they go through that url but buy someone else's photo, you get 25%.
- I'm not sure if it's possible to predict the likelihood of making $25.00 in 180 days. I did and I'm sure a large number of others have, but it all depends on the price of your photos, the quality/public appeal, etc. and how much marketing you do.
I have no idea if they actually close the store if you don't. If no one else knows, I'd try an email to Drew or Langdon. I'm curious to know as well.

I do not believe DPC Prints is currently dropping "stores" that are non-productive, though that clause does give them the right to do so in the future.
The best way to generate sales is to post quality work, and use the referral program to promote your own work.
I also think $10.00 is way underpriced for an 8x10 print.

Yep, I've lived in Poway for nearly 20 years myself. And I see you're using an E-10 -- my "alternate" camera since I bought the 10D.
To check out Poway, visit the Hometown photo album where various people submit photos of our beloved Poway. There are a few from me in there as well. Poway Hometown Photo Album
Hey, my print of my first (and only of course) blue ribbon photo is now available at DPCPrints.com

Super work, Harvey! For myself, I've done more to sell photos by buying them myself, and then selling them at various locations near my home.
My question is: Does buying from one's own store contribute to the store's profitablity, in the case of clause 6.6 as Harvey mentioned?

I don't know for sure, but I don't think your own purchases contribute to the store's profitability. At least, when you look up at your "sales report", your own purchases do not show there, just outside (for profit) purchases.

Buying from your own store does not contribute to the store's probability, since you do so at base price/cost. There is no profit earned on a base-price purchase.
