I took this picture long time ago.I like it and it looks ok, but gives me a feeling that something is missing there.
I would like to reshoot it, but need some advise first.

I like the photograph...but the first thing that hits me is the fact that the colors are all kind of "blah." Maybe a polarizer or enhancing the color in post processing? I don't know...just a thought. :o)

I really like the way you've set the focus on the grasses and leave the background out of focus. Sort of tells a story - getting away from civilization or something.
I like laurielblack's suggestion of punching up the color. My other idea would be perhaps to move the grasses a bit left in the frame, not as centered, to make a more dynamic composition. |

I had the opposite first impression :D
I felt confused about what was the actual subject of the photograph, mainly because the background was too much IN focus.
I also must admit that I have a difficulty with the portrait orientation, as it incorporates so much of the sky as to draw the eye up to the fascinating clouds, and then my eye feels stranded there.
I think a landscape orientation with a narrower depth of field which framed the shape of the grass grouping a bit more aesthetically - to the left as mentioned, - would simplify the elements, and bring out the beauty of what your eye appreciated in the beginning :) |

gingerbaker, I agree.
In this portrait, maybe if the clouds themselves were "Cumulo-nimbus" (large, bold, white clouds that hold HEAPS of water), then the sky could be more interesting... (eyes not stranded, etc...) |

Just to stir the pot, I might suggest that the orientation is fine, but that the camera should be lowered to show more of the waving grain, which I think is the main subject. Shallower DOF and brightening the colors are both great ideas.

I think I have to agree with stdavidson. I like the orientation. I would like to see more of the plant. I like the grain in sharp focus but would futher limit the focus of the backgroud.
