I know people tend to dislike selective desaturation (myself usually included), but I'm curious nonetheless how this will be received. I had a very dark, shadowy image to begin with and decided to desaturate the background to emphasize the pink of the rose.. I did it sloppily with replace colour, just to test before putting a lot of effort into it, and found that it looked as if it had been splashed with colour. I like the effect, though to others it'll probably just look messy :) I also blurred and faded to give it a soft focus.

Feedback would be appreciated :)

I know I'm one of those weird people who like the selective desat, and this is no exception. I like it. I do wonder how it might look with a tad more "fading" in the center rather than the bright pink, maybe to add to the aged or faded look you have going there. It's so much fun to play with shots like this one! Thanks for sharing it! :o)

:) Thanks. I haven't faded the center at all yet, that's just the colour of the rose. It does look a tad hot though.. I hadn't noticed that :)

i really like this and it does look like it was splashed with color. the only thing that is a bit distracting is the hard black edge above the flower of what i assume is a building. try blurring that a bit or doing a slight burn to make the edge blend in with the background a bit more.

good work!
