Can someone who actually knows what minimalism is please rewrite the description of the minimalism challenge?

Or better yet just get rid of it.

Hehe.

But I think you overdid it a bit.

Or

You explained it nicely, up to a point.

Perhaps SC can leave the description and change the challenge name to "Concentration"

Create an image where your subject is the strong point of the image, yet only occupies a small portion of the image space.

I think RussianMasterPhotographer wrote it.

At present I don't know whether to shoot for the title or the description. As written it could be interpreted as "Negative Space" or even "Lots and Lots of Bokeh". Or, as I believe Georges points out, delete the description entirely and leave it to the photographer to decide.

I'm a little disappointed that it's not "Minimalism" - Expert Editing. ;)

Having a look at all the ribbon winners on the front page, I think there are at least 3 images that comply with the description. They are simular to lots of high scoring images in the last Minimalism challenge, so my guess is the description is better than the challenge title.

i assumed you checked already, bu the previous 2 Minimalism challenges had the same description, and generated what you might expect... a lit of shots with a single object in a lot of empty space.

If we can use wikipedia, "In the visual arts and music, minimalism is a style that uses pared-down design elements".

I secretly hoped for that too.

With the whole WWW I'd think one would be able to figure out what Minimalistic Photography entails. But as was mentioned, do you shoot for the title or the description.I am gonna assume less is more.

Just Don't Call it Minimalism

Edit to add a very energetic version of Terry Riley's In C
