Just finished uploading a couple of pictures I made on a recent trip to Pompeii. I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

What a beautiful place. I love the sunset one. It, the clouds, and the Pompeiian Street are my favorites. The statue would be really nice if it included the whole statue (maybe vertical instead of horizontal?). Good work! :o)

Hi Nicole,

Your photos are beautiful. The thing that impresses me most about them is that you put so much effort into their composition. If I had taken these pictures, the main subject of interest would have been smack dab in the center of the shot. You tried to do something more interesting with each of your shots and it really paid off. Nice job!

I especially like 'Pompeian Street', good use of leading lines and elimination of most of the bright sky.

I also like 'Sunset over Vesuvio', however the horizon feels a bit tilted. It could be just me.

I would have liked to get the whole statue, but the problem was there was a wall just behind it. I thought taking it upwards against the sky was a good solution, these were others I tried:



Here you can also see that he used to have a bow in his hands, which got lost because it was made of wood.

ah pompeii... a fantastic place in one of the best corners of the world. damn i miss the ice cream... i hope you stayed somewhere nice - did you see capri, amalfi or sorrento? your pictures have been very nice to go through, relighting some very pleasant memories... the sunset over versuvio is especially nice (and preferable i think to your challenge entry, the blues being particularly rich) and the view to pompeii very nice... isn't travelling and digital cameras combined fantastic? thank you for posting your pictures :) (sigh, italy...)

I like this one...it's a lovely statue. Darn those ancient architects, anyway...couldn't they put those walls somewhere else? LOL :o)

Terrific pictures. My wife and I loved Pompeii, it was one of the highlights of our visit to Italy. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Where's the brothels? My friends just came back from Italy and they had pictures of the brothels in Pompeii.
