Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

Took some sport shots yesterday of hockey. I've gained a new admiration for sports photographers, it's not as easy as it looks.
With this type of hockey, you may not be able to hack someone over the face with a stick, elbow the ref in the face, or simply start a mass brawl between teams.. but its still pretty tough :-O

I'd love to see those REAL hockey players drop the gloves against our Canadian hockey players.

edit: by the way ... great shots. Very dynamic. They remind me of ballet dancers ;)

Nice shots.

If it's real hockey, where are their skates and what is that green stuff?

I'm with Jacko, I'd like to see those guys on skates toss and cross with some of the guys we got playing up here in the great white north.

C'mon now...REAL hockey? I don't see a single nose that's been repeatedly broken, nary a nasty facial scar, and absolutely no blood. Heck, I bet these guys still have most of their teeth.

Forget Canadians, they couldn't handle this guy....

and he's only 4. :-)

All that aside, the first pic is very nice.

All comments made by people who've never seen a field hockey game. Or played in one. Those people are scary! No helmets, no pads. Same tendency towards broken noses. Same thing with womens lacrosse. I played guys lax for 2 years in high school. When we got a womens team I played goalie. It was the safest place on the field. Never, ever again shall I play womens lacrosse. Scary game.

Notice how the folks on the other side of the pond play their sports with no pads? Hockey, rugby, football (soccer)? Who's tougher?

Sure as heck ain't the Yanks. :)
