Last September I bought a Viking 1Gb CF Card and it produced 314 "Large" images in my dRebel consistently. Except that a week or so ago, it began to record only about 600Mb. I finally decided that reformatting the CF Card wouldn't hurt. It now reads 314 images again. Nice. If anyone else has this problem, this could be the solution.

I had the same thing happen to me, only with a Sony Memory Stick. After I reformatted it, it went back to normal. I guess all things technical kind of freak out once in a while and have to be wiped clean to get them back. Who knows? :o)

No, now that I think about it...I think it was a Lexmark. The Sony one that came with the camera was only 16mb so I bought the Lexmark 256mb one. That's the one that spaced out on me. Guess you get what you pay for! :o)

I think you should format cards quite often.

I have a lexmark that went weirdo on me awhile back.
Formatting hasn't reset it, the space is just gone and took with it some really good pix of Seven Sacred Pools on Maui :(

I keep seeing lexmark in this thread...do they make flash memory or do you mean lexar?

I beleive there is a utility to recover lost files on the lexar cards...I'll see what I can dig up.

ED:
Here's the link...I think it comes with the 1G and better cards.

it's a lexar... I'm still so mad at it that I can't remember it's name or where it is.
