Left comments on most of the pics, if I did not leave a comment it means I did not particularly like it. Not too many of those! Most are fantastic!

Utterly fantastic, nearly unbelievable, absolutely wonderful pictures. This batch is dark and brooding, haunting and mysterious. I visited Iceland oh so briefly thirty years ago (flying Icelandic Airlines and stopping to refuel on the way to Europe). I wanted so much to visit for a week or two. I've always had a fondness for Iceland and it's beauty. (Turns out the people I met were wonderful and friendly, too!).
I liked each and every picture you posted. What an amazing place and what a great photographer! |

Heida, I doubt I can say it any better. Your pictures are what make me want to learn photography. There are many truly great, talented photographers here, but your "vision" and the type of scenes you bring out -- they just happen to be as close to my fantasy as you can get. I am on dial up right now, so I will go back into them again when I am back to DSL later. AMAZING!

and hsteg I used some of theese adjustments layers : levels, brightness - contrast, color balance, hue-saturation, curves, and ofcourse dodging and burning, and neat image on some of them. :)

H, how do you know when to stop with the dodge and burn tools? You have it, for me, down to fine point - just beyond the point of reality (which is what makes it an art), but not to the point of the ridiculous. When I'm working on an image, I find I get so wrapped up in it that I can't really see what I'm doing to it anymore ... yet you seem to have whizzed out all these shots in no time. That detachment is something I must learn ...
Lovely work

Heida,
Well - I just spent a solid half-hour devouring your iamges. All I can say is WOW! My favorite of the West Fjords is "Abandoned" in the HOUSES folder. What spectacular lighting! Not to mention perfect composition and all the other stuff you do so well. Heck, I'm still ticked that your rusted entry didn't ribbon - it was my favorite of that challenge!
All these folks talking about coming to Iceland....I'm not sure I can wait until 2005.
Thanks loads for sharing. |

Heida,
Great work, you should be really proud. This is my fav -
Question. I noticed on some of your images, you have rounded darking of the edges from top to center. Is this from post-processing, or from a wide angle?
This adds a sense of drama, but I was wondering if it was "post" work.

Like it? Maybe LOVE IT would be better. Such a great sky - and huge scenic with the human giving it perfect scale. You see much like Edward Weston or Ansel Adams. There's not enough words....
(Edit for "duh" in spelling)
