45second video
Our 4 day vacation was just not only a bucket list clearing, but a photog dream as well, everything plus some I was able to get and two things I was totally not expecting to capture and one of them was hummingbirds.. over 15 were able to be seen at one of our state parks.
I am sooo content right now and still on cloud 9.. I know I could improve on the shots as always, but considering I didn't have my normal stuff with me and was not preparing for such a sight, I think last minute things turned out OK.. to me, it was perfect!
Now time to make a new bucket list!
Thank you all for the help in trying for me to capture these little buggers for settings during the spring bird thread. But, I did FINALLY, capture one!
Of course going through over 200 more images, but these two are my favorite so far and I have no clue what kind of hummingbirds they are
A special thank you to Ann Ann and Jake backdoorhippie who helped me get there!

Congrats, still trying to get some myself. These look to be Ruby Throated Hummingbirds to me. |

Thank you!!
I found them very difficult to get, even after buying special plants, flowers and the feeders, we have about 4 that come around my home, but I can never get them.
It's fun though |

Oh! how sweet. Congratulatons! Go outside in the late afternoon, set a fine-spray sprinkler going so it hits a bush or vine, sit in a comfy chair with a red flower in your hat--camera at the ready. They will fly thru the water. They will fly right up to your hat to investigate. You might get some nice shots. You probably have more hummingbirds than you think. |

Congratulations!! We have 7 feeders just around our deck (it's a BIG deck) and I love shooting those little buggers (you have Ruby-throated Hummingbirds - the only one seen regularly east of the Mississippi, and maybe east of the Rocky Mt's, except in the extreme southern US).
My trick is to put the camera on a tripod pre-aimed and focused on the feeder with an RF trigger (Vello Freewave). I put the camera on CH and the trigger on bulb and it just fires away when the bird comes to where I want it. Lazy, but effective. :) |

LOL that is funny, I think i like to see and watch the birds come and go :-)) I noticed they are becoming more active though not sure if this is their prime time to be out or not.
I love that hat idea too, will have to try it over the weekend again and see what happens.
We just built a new deck and there are places to hang the feeders now too, the issue would be changing the water out all the time for them, may have to find a new spot for them
I found my two favorite shots out of the whole group finally narrowed it down to 16 images, I think its getting better and I am not keeping every one LOL
