The remote for my camera... (my third) is separating from its cord. Has been for many months. I've been babying it daily.
I've been worried for its very existence. I knew that the Death Monster for Remote Cords was violently after it... and the End was near.
*heavy, heavy sigh*
I agonized over its impending death.
Daily.
Agonized.
I watched the bare wire section growing ever wider.
*insert high tension music here*
It stressed me out every time I used it.
*music grows louder and with more tension*
Then... Today... I went to Home Depot.
I bought that stuff that folks buy to dip their tools into to make themselves happy.
(It's liquid... in case you're looking for stuff for the current Liquid challenge, but that's off topic here.)
I dipped it.
I dipped it again.
I let it dry.
It is covered and is not in the way of a huge destiny of terror now.
It is HAPPY once again! *peals of happy bells fill our system with joy*
Life. It's good... even when it's not.
I have a happy little remote cord now.
Life is good.
Yeah... It's good.
I just thought you'd like to know.

nice. and I think we can write a song with the leading line "It is covered and is not in the way of a huge destiny of terror now." |

Can you fix my flash? LOL! Some idiot backing up without looking backed into it a couple days ago and now the thread that you tighten to hold it to the hot shoe is stripped. I can tighten it down, but it comes right back loose again. I've looked all over the internet to see if I could find a fix without luck. |

So... There are some thread-locking adhesive stuffs out there.
You put it into the hole or into the screw part before you screw it in.
Gorilla glue is one, but I'm sure others have better ideas for metals.
This is an easy fix.
Wait here for help.
:).
Here's a cold drink for you while you wait. |

i wonder if they make some sort of tape, like teflon tape (that may or may not work) that you can wrap the threads with.

Hmm, looks as if you purchased enough Plasti dip for the entire DPC community!
maybe just pass that container around?
Or sell it by the teaspoonful.
And a new cottage industry is born.

Anybody want a teaspoonful?
The whole can cost only $6.50!
Even if Hubby doesn't find a billion things to do with it, it's worth $6.50 to me to get my remote cable fixed.
:D
I'm so happy! :D
