I really enjoy going through the profiles of people on the site, but I don't have enough time to look through everyone's challenge history or profiles, and I feel we're missing out on some awesome photos! Likewise, it's often been stated that the photographers themselves like some of their other photos more than their highest rated ones.

How about a bar of 4 pictures, like the highest rated and most recent portfolio additions where the photographer can select pictures of his/her own to showcase?

I like this idea, I agree with you that I would like to see which pictures are his favorites without going through the entire challenge history

I'll put down my support for this as well.. great idea

A few weeks ago, I tried to figure out how to make this work without adding anything to the site. Best I could come up with was to post copies under a different name to your portfolio and then delete and repost as necessary.

But, the idea of controlling that bar on the profile is much better. Great idea.

DeviantArt has something like that. They also have a message system that tells you that a person you have picked as a favorite has a new picture uploaded.

Interesting idea. To make sure that I understand it correctly, the photog chooses his/her four favorites of personal photographs and it replaces the most recent additions to portfolio?

I like this idea very much. And if space is needed, you could just get rid of the last photos uploaded. That's worthless to me anyway. Actually, it forces me to put photos for discussions in my private workshop folder so it doesn't knock of the ones I want to show.

*nods* I just thought about this when Habits was ending. I love my entry, but even though I've only heard good things about it, I can't see why it scored so low.

So, I've added 2 of my favorite entries to my profile.

I put up my favorite shots on my bio so you don't have to go thru my portfolio :)

It could replace, or be in addition to the most recent portfolio additions. Right now, the easiest way is to do as Jovi suggested and place them in your bio, but not every is that good with code, and it think this would give it a more clean, professional look.

I did the same.

This is a great idea but in the meantime I will put my own favorites in the profile too.

I made a suggestion similar to this a great while back. The table that your challenge pics are in would be soooooo much cooler if you could click on a column header and sort on that header similar to Windows Explorer....

my $.02 (again)

I added my three shots that I had the most fun taking as well.

I also added equipment used.

I added my three favourites. My choices are from those that don't currently appear on my profile page.

I think it would be cool to add a picture from ppl that I've chosen as favorites to their DPCprints or would it be too cluttered?

Excellent idea... it drives me crazy that I have no control over the pictures that appear in my profile under 'recent portfolio additions' other than the very latest ones appearing. I'd love to be able to choose what appears here.

It's rather convoluted to put this on your Bio - you need to find the thumbnail url, which is fundmanetally different for challenge and portfolio entries, as far as I can tell. Or am I missing something? The "thumb" and "/thumb" codes don't seem to work on Bio.

You're exactly right. Maybe short of making this an official feature, add logic to process the [thumb][/thumb] entries and convert them to proper entries.

For those who want to do this:

Thanks jovi, brilliant idea.

Thanks cpanaioti, for showing me how.

I put up 9 in my bio. Ok, maybe I over did it a little, lol.
