		Can anyone recommend lighting kits?

I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, but I want a decent kit.

I am really interested too. I really want to explore lighting more. I am going to buy some reflector discs, but I'd love to learn more about studio (home studio) lighting...

		| The most often recommened brand of "good bang for the buck" studio strobes is Alien Bees. They have several pre-designed kits, or you can put together your own. |

		I bought a kit,

 2 - Interfit 250's
1 Black with white inside umbrella
 1 White umbrella

 $500

I really like them, they provide more than enough lighting for a small-medium sized studio situation.

You might want to go through the forums.
I found this with just a quick look.

Umbrellas and stuff are for portraits right?

I'm not really looking for thing like that. I guess a kit I'm looking for would be a couple lights, scrims, and things like that, for just generally lighting things.

Thanks very much for the info so far!

Umbrellas are light modifiers used to prevent harsh shadows (among other things). They have a lot more uses than just portraits. They are inexpensive too. You can get name-brand umbrellas for less than $20 brand new.
