OK I am surprised by the votes I am getting in this. I thought I had a better than average entry but it's staying in the average score range. Sure there are a lot of better entries but do people rate relatively in a challenge rather on merit of each individual photograph?

Yep... always been a problem here.
People go brain dead on Free Studies and think it should be something super special rather than just "open theme".
Plus voting to rank photos is a bad practice, IMO... |

Started off with a single 9 vote and a glowing comment, then down down down from there. Looks like mid 5s is the target.

Agreed that voting to rank photos is a bad practice... it negatively skews the scores of other perfectly good images. |
