There's a certain mystique and weirdness to some Google Streetview images. Coincidental, mysterious, strange, vexing, funny ... you never know. Create your own creative yet convincing Google Streetview image. Expert editing.

So you're suggesting we do our OWN photography to emulate a Google Streetview "look"? You're not suggesting we actually mine google for images? |

"Create your own" ... yup. I left it pretty open assuming expert editing would allow for the nuances of Streetview.

Thanks. I have been hanging onto it through winter. I figured Spring / summer would work better.

My understanding of what Mr. Davidson is saying - by virtue of the Expert Editing rule set request - is that folks create what they imagine might be an interesting Google street view capture. Okay, that was clarified while I was typing.
And, on a tangent, just curious: has anyone ever been captured in a Google street view? In fact, I have two examples where Google has captured me - not my person - but my house and my car. See below.
Pouring the patio, 2010. Those long shadows are those of the fellows stamping the concrete. And, yes, I realize almost anyone can find their house via Google Earth, but what I thought was so unique about this particular capture is that it happened to not only be the DAY the patio was poured but the HOUR the fellows were working on it.
Yep, me driving to work, 2011.
tate's idea sounds like fun.

COOl! ...
Yes, exactly. How bout this as a revised description:
"There's a certain mystique and weirdness to some Google Streetview images. Coincidental, mysterious, strange, vexing, funny ... you never know. Use your camera and your creativity to create an image that looks as if it would be found on Google Streetview."
Expert editing.

I was in the garage apparently when google drove by my house. Interestingly enough this angle is the only shot I am in if you go to a more strait view of my garage I disappear.

Ok, I'm probably missing something here but this is an Expert Editing challenge to imitate shots that are undergo no editing at all as far as I'm aware. What sort of entries are people expecting? |

i think it is the kind of Expert challenge that only an expert would know is expert.... in other words, use expert to put together an image that totally looks candid and unedited, but weird in some way.... at least that's how i read it.... |

My Dad used to be in the street view shots of our house, busy opening the garage door. I don't know when those shots were taken, except that it was a Thursday because the men who do our garden were there too.
I went back to Google street view after my Dad died and those shots are no longer there :(

Hehe, I'm gonna go find me a bear to chase with a stick ;-)
Just looked, my house is still invisible from one driveway and almost invisible from the other...but I'm glad to see that the ex's car is no longer in my driveway!

Oh what a fun challenge - there is so much that could be done with this. I am looking forward to seeing the entries, hopefully there will be lots! |

Well, after all that I'm in with a shot that required expert editing rules (alas, not done by an expert editor). It was fun, educational and bloody hard work for something that hopefully looks like an unedited Google street view image. |

Would a panorama pic produced in camera with the camera build in function be a valid entry?
Thnx |
