So true. What's even worse is that some retail outlets (I'm looking at YOU, Best Buy) even want to charge you extra to remove the bloatware. What a racket. Another reason that the business-oriented laptops are the way to go. That and the fact that it is easier to get a high-resolution IPS display.

Not to mention that should the need arise to wipe the system and start with the system restore disk that has the OS on it, that re-installs all of the buggy bloatware |

OK, so I finally pulled the trigger.
What'd I get? A monster;
Dell M4800, Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-4810MQ Processor (Quad Core 2.80GHz, 3.80GHz Turbo, 16GB RAM (32GB Max), 256GB SSD, 500GB regular HD, 15.6" UltraSharp IGZO UHD displayâ€Â¦Inventor and Ansys should run like a dream. |

Sounds like it should be a screamin' machine. Got your hands on it yet, or are you waiting for it to arrive? |

It should handle Inventor, Ansys and the other engineering/modeling software packages pretty well, especially after I max out the RAM. |

The one I was considering before I discovered that Apple has decided to disallow post-purchase hardware upgrades... |

My new laptop has arrived and has been in my hands for a few days. I'm impressed. I have decided to name it "The Beast", both for its computing power/speed as well as its size/mass.
It runs Inventor and Ansys better than the workstation I use at work. |
