For those who ask, Aimee is a first-time model. She can be reached for offers at OneModelPlace.com (OMP - 96657).
I finally had some assistance (my wonderful wife went along) to help with the reflector. It made quite a difference in some of the shots. I think there is much to be learned about using it effectively but it was a real boon (both the reflector and having my wife along).
The model and her mother were both focused and fun to be around. We really tested them for their first outing - 3 hours in the southern sun. OUCH! Actually it was a nice afternoon with good sunlight and we got some shots that I hope help her get a career started in modeling.
On with the show:
Thanks for comments or critiques,
Kev

Cute, and definetly has potential. However, the 5th photo is freaking me out, it looks like she has hobbits legs! :)

2, 3, and 4 are the best I think. She looks the most relaxed in those. Perhaps the first one would have been better from a higher vantage point. It would have forced her eyes open a little more and got rid of the distracting grass in the forefront. #5 (as stated by jonr) was taken from a higher vantage which makes her legs look short, perhaps getting a little lower would have fixed that up nicely. Lastly, just a couple nits ... her teeth could be ever so slightly brighter in a couple of them (simple to do in photoshop), and you can see a shadow of her eyelid cast onto her face due to the position of the sun in a couple of them.
Her beauty speaks for itself ... great job Kevin. Keep 'em coming! |

#7 is the one I like the best. Number 8 almost, but it's not making me care. The rest are nice enough, but not really doing it for me.
Thanks for posting.

Kevin - personally, I love your all of your work. I actually visit your sites a lot just to get ideas. I am just a beginner, so I don't feel right giving my two cents, but... the first photo just doesn't do anything for the model. It looks like she has big cheeks and that angle seems to make them overpower her face. It's probably just the shadowing, but it was the first thing I noticed when I looked at the picture. Other than that photo I think they are all excellent and I especially like the last two.
Thanks for sharing.

I like the ones in the field, but agree w/toddhead about the 1st one. It seems the reflector helped even out the lighting. Did you use a gold reflector? However 5,6,8 have a blue cast that makes her look cold. Or is that just my monitor? 8>) |

I think I'd trade my one and only model (girlfriend) for this one :) What moment of the day whas it when you took the bright sunny ones? It seems that the shadows are a bit too much. I'm asking because the best sun for outsides is in the morning and before sunset, leaves those nice soft shades, I'm sure you know this but I'm just curious when were they taken. I like 2,3,4,7 alot, but with a bit of editing any of these can be made great shots. |
