A fair amount of discussion about the site as the owner use to be a member here before he was removed. Just do a search for 'photournament' in the forums and you'll see plenty.

| We've repeatedly asked the owner of that site to stop spamming our users. He's now changed his story to say that it's his "members" who are sending these invitations, and that he's trying to "crack down" on this horrible practice. Interesting, because I'm not sure why his member would want to invite one of our dormant test accounts. I'm also not so sure why that invitation wouldn't come from a member instead of from webmaster@ ... Seems like a decent place to start "cracking down." |

I remember glimpses. What happened to him? Why did he get kicked out?

I'm a member and have competed in 2 finished Tournaments and have photos entred in 2 more.
Although, after his recent childish actions (and apparently ones I never heard of until today), I'm reconsidering my participation.
One of the contests is to be "Candid" photographs. When you submit it tells you that you can only resize and rotate. No sharpening, no croping, nothing. When a member asked about it in the forums, the webmaster replied in a way that sounded very attacking and as if he had no regard for the other person's concerns.
Now he's removed the forums altogether after posting a message saying that he was reviewing the membership terms and that he might need to figure out a better way to weed-out people that were signing up with multiple accounts.
Overall I'm not feeling too good about it right now. He's not very "user-friendly" as you might say.
I signed up through seeing a banner he had in his signature when he posted in the forums here.

Receieved my "invitation" yesterday. Also deleted it, yesterday. I have no idea weather the site is any good. And I will never know. The bottom line is, the webmaster was booted from here for not following the rules, and he still isn't.
(If you have the best product in the world, at the best price, but you call my house to sell it, your getting hung up on just like all the other telemarketers)

I dont like it because he tries to take people from other sites. I think its chiken bleep to go to other sites and get all the E-mail adresses then send them to potential customers.
That just turned me off.

If I remember rightly, he said he used a program to 'grab' the emails. It's all automatic and not him actually looking at everyone's profile himself and copy/pasting the email addresses.

| Hide your email adresses, why would you live them public with the spam going on these days? I make mine hidden anywhere I can still I get like 10 spam mails / hour. There should be some international law to stop this, there whas always spam but it went really insane lately. |
