Were battened down and riding her out right now. Steady winds of 30-40 mph, gusts in the high 50's. Here's an earth-wind map picture of what we're under right now: those streaks are the winds, the red dot is Cape Cod Bay.
How are the rest of you Northeasterly people faring?

They were originally predicting 4-8 inches here in the Mid-Atlantic. We got about an inch yesterday and another dusting overnight. Happily, it was a bust, and my newly repaired snow blower continues to sit. I knew that $239 I spent would prevent snow this winter.
Stay warm and safe! |

The European model said we would get 20-30" the other models predicted 18-24" I would say we have around 6".
I wasn't really looking at the snow it's the tide that concerns me.
The storm moved too fast to build anything before it switched over.
How are the tides near you guys in Cape Cod? |

I'm in the area they were predicting 18-24 inches in. We ended up with about 3. Schools are shut down, roads & bridges were shut down, buses & trains were shut down. The hype was unending. Every time something like this happens you think there's no way they'll do it again, but they do. Every time! Stay safe up there Bear! |

Better safe than sorry, people... It's a massive storm. Tracking on these up the coast is notoriously hard to predict. It drifted East a bit more than expected, sparing some of you guys further down-coast but greatly exceeding expectations on the Cape, I'd say... Certainly fulfilling them, anyway :-) |

We just got a dusting instead of 6-10" or 8-12" depending on who you follow, but it's snowing now. Predicting a whopping 2-4" today.
I'm happy I still have electricity and less to worry about snow on the roof.
My daughter was hoping to x-country ski today, so she and my wife are not happy. But if we get 4", she'll be able to ski! |

The way storms get hyped these days is hilarious, in our area they go into "storm watch" and the news people all get this high pitched giddiness that cracks me up. It seems the more toys they have to predict weather the further off they get with their predictions. |

Tell me about it, the ding dongs on the weather channel were measuring 3 inches of snow with a yard stick.

my brother was down sat and we changed a rear blinker on my car. the car needs to be inspected this month. figured i would bring her in monday. monday morning went out to the car and wouldn't you know, the rear plate was stolen. got the cops to come and they made out a report. can't get the car inspected until i get new plates.
my fuel oil was down to 1/16 of a tank on monday. i called to see if maybe they could come a day early, i'm on a schedule. they said they would be down tuesday, on schedule. i said there was a blizzard coming, they said don't worry. called today and they told me no trucks on the road today.
and then this.
all in all not a bad week for me.

I feel horrible for all the disappointed people in New York and elsewhere who missed out on this. Here in Massachusetts we're getting it good, and I've spent the entire day removing snow from everything from our stairs to the deck to the roof of our garage, which I feared might collapse. We've got well over 20 inches here, with significant drifts, and it's still coming.
High tide is on the way, so I'm going to walk down by the water and see if I can't get washed out to see Bear and Penny on the Cape. |

No, no, we were not at all disappointed because we had the quietest night ever: no cars or busses, no sirens, plenty of food, electricityâ¦we DO appreciate these things in the City, believe me!
New York snow: Mayor De Blasio defends snow warnings
New York City's mayor has responded to claims officials overreacted to the threat posed by a major winter storm, saying: "We dodged a bullet."
People are happy and most of them work from home today. No complaints. |

Sorry I didn't make it! First my toes felt a little cold, then I started cramping up, and then, just past Nahant, I ran out of 'gansett, and that was the final straw. |

I am so jealous!!! We just had three weeks in NZ and I enjoyed the temps that the locals moaned about.
At Auckland Zoo, so many animals weren't on display because it was "too hot" for them. The Sumatran tiger had a fan with a mister blowing at him LOL LOL LOL - and it was only about 29C / 84F - I'd kill for such temps in Brisbane, Australia!!!
We have been sweltering in record heat (and humidity) for many, many weeks now *sigh*
I fell in love with Dunedin (my previous love affair was Wellington) - sure wish I could figure out how to find a good job over there, so I could move!!! |
