It's dropped a little from the first couple of days, and I fully expect it to fall some more. But very happy with it so far. |

There are 151 entries. I have 48 votes on mine. Come on folks - if you've entered, you expect others to vote, yes? Why aren't you voting? It's a Free Study, so there's no DNMC component. I just hate to see a Free Study end with less than 50 votes. Kinda sad! |

Behind schedule on this one for the voting & commenting - came down with strep throat and a nasty fever to go along with it on Thursday, never laid in bed for so long in my life. Probably still be in bed if not for the antibiotics. Then I was out and about most of today but didn't even get any decent pictures.
Lots of interesting ones here in the Free Study, for sure. I've seen some I like but can't make any guesses as to top 10 finishers yet - still only 60% through it, though. |

Well it has come up. Would really like to see it finish above a 6, finally getting some comments (expected a few more than this tho).

You have given an average score of 6.4636.
Gave out a number of 8's and 9's on this one, even a couple 10's, and there are quite a few I'm hoping to see descriptions of when I look back through at the end. |

Thanks for the moral support. I'll never match the number of comments of some who have kept it up for years & years, but I try to do my part - feedback is what makes this place so valuable a tool for photographers learning and improving, and votes without any comments don't really accomplish much.
There are a lot of photos I couldn't match but I at least try to say what I like or don't like, or if nothing really inspires me I'll just say something off the wall and/or loosely related to the photo or the title ;) |

And if all the comments show the level of thought and effort as the one I received then double Bravo! |

Your effort is commendable. However, the feedback loop is incomplete at DPC. Based on the comments I've received from you, you should consider spending less time commenting and more time taking courses in composition and taking field seminars on technique. Free spirit commenting is encouraged and protected at DPCâ€Â¦. regardless of whether it is pertinent or valid in the real world. |

Thank you for the advice, and that is something I would like to do given the opportunity. Not really in the budget right now, and even time will again be in short supply when baby #2 arrives.
I don't pretend to be an expert when I provide comments, and I'm not a very good writer so I might not be conveying the fact that what I'm sharing is just my opinion.
Just because someone comments that they don't like something about your photo, that shouldn't diminish your view of the same photo as your own creation - if the comment makes you take a look at it again and you disagree with the comment, great. You've reinforced one of your creative decisions and continuining to make that decision will probably result in development of a style, something I've never managed to do.
I will say what I like or don't like in a comment, just as many others have done and continue to do. I might like something that breaks a 'rule' of composition and dislike something that follows all of them, or vice versa... |

I'll take any comment I can get... good, bad or wrong.
The only time I don't mark them helpful is when they're just plain unintelligible... |
