I know I'm in the minority here, but making the front page just became less difficult and 67% less special.

It's not that I don't like change, there is plenty to like about many of the changes recently. This isn't one of them for me.

You have to admit, adding 4th and 5th does take emphasis away from the top 3.

Yes, it does look a bit like a voting page.

Plus, those stars next to the HMs look bigger on my screen than the ribbons :-).

Long overdue. Many other competition sites reward even up to top 20. So the extra 2 HM's is a nice reward and recognition of higher achievement, after all salons award many more prizes per category than just top 3.

Personally, I think if you're going to be awarded an HM, then I have no problem with you being on the front page too. No-one is going to mistake an HM for a ribbon.

It's nice to see a little change around here, personally I like seeing the HM's. As far as being easier to make the front page, that does not matter to me, getting the ribbons is still just as hard.

A show-case is for the ribbon winners, not the runner-ups. The front page is DPC's 'Showcase.' It just doesn't seem right. My opinion and as usual I am apparently in the minority.

Agreed! Another way to look at it is that if 4th & 5th place finishers have to go to the trouble to cough up a valid original, they deserve the exposure.

Side note: While I respect the opinions of those who do not like this change, you've acknowledged that you are in the minority and some admitted that it's not that big of a deal and I am guessing you realize it is not going to change back, so why whine about it and rain on others' parade? No change to the site is going to please everybody. I am just glad to see some attention given to the site. I still consider this a learning and COMMUNITY site and what I am hearing is "I want the front page all to myself" or "I don't want to share the spotlight with even more people!"

Probably not that hard, but more coding - I would guess 3x as much as this change by itself or more.

If it was me coding it, I would also allow members to have the option to ONLY display THEIR OWN entries on the front page to even further reduce the whining.

I will be returning to this community because of this change. No one probably knew I was gone. :) Well I'm back now. First new goal, get on the front page with an honorable mention!

I like the idea of the top 5 images being presented on the front page but now the page looks a bit busy to me and my eye is drawn to the middle image first being the third place! I don’t know why? must be my symmetrical way of seeing things! Anyway I’m not here much to care either wayâ€Â¦..at least it’s a change.

I'm loving the new front page. It's a simple change and the page feels so much richer and fuller. It seems to add a lot of value to the site; like there is so much more depth now. Well done!

So the code at Home page //www.dpchallenge.com/index.php has been edited to show the top 5, could the same line of code be now inserted into the //www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_archive.php ?
