This past weekend I shot some engagement photos of a young couple. I'm also doing their wedding this summer, so I'd really appreciate some feedback/advice. I tend to get emotionally attached to my photography, so I can never tell what's actually good versus what may only appeal to me for whatever reason.
Thanks to all who take a few minutes to check it out. I'm trying new gallery software, so feel free to try out the little feedback button if you have anything to say. Franks.

The monotones are incredible. Only thing I'm wondering are the poses by them or by your instructions? Love the new sephia additions to your portfolio also.
My favorites are probably 128 & 244.

Thank you on both counts. My instructions? I think they forgot I was there :) |

Wow...those are just really beautiful shots. The young couple should be tickled pink about all of them! My personal favorite is #385...really great composition and charm. 18, 61, 85, and 212 are other personal favorites. What a fabulous collection. You'll do their wedding proud, I'm sure! :o)

@ Shiz: 85 was just a PS CS filter..."Dry Brush" (under the artistic heading) with about 60 opacity in a layer over the original image.
188 was actually an intentional overexposure. it's a half second long, with at the smallest aperature (F29 I think). With only 200ISO, the D70 couldn't handle that long a shutter without a ND filter.
@ Jenesis: I'll do your next wedding if you like :)
@ Fadoi: those are all quadtones, either the Ken Lee Bronze or my own that I adapted from Alecia's super-cool quadtones.

yeah, I hadn't really thought of them that way as I was shooting them, but I've heard that said a few times now. Might have to consider shelving that idea in the future :) |

over all though - consistent exposures, and tones.
some of the smiles irk me - they seem posed.
of what you have posted i would weed them down to about one dozen.

actually in the cases where they were smiling, they were all natural. She's been in Switzerland for a year, and just got home a week or so ago. So I think they really were that happy. :) They were off in their own goofy little world, just laughing and having a good time.
I agree that it needs to be cut down...that's why i posted here; to get an idea of what other people see as the keepers. thanks for the comments. |
