Although I like France, it's nice to see the Dutch still can beat the Germans in the final :) Btw. Good luck to both our Brazilian and Colombian members!

It is shaping up to be a brutal game between Columbia and Brazil. There could have easily been 5 cards in the first half but the ref seems to have forgotten to bring his cards today. When clear fouls are seen and not called, players tend to play to the whistle, and it gets ugly.

Yeah, best be careful... it might just degenerate into a hockey game. Maybe then I would watch. :O)

I feel for James Rodrigez he was kicked to bits all game and ended up with a yellow himself and a dodgy yellow at that.

I really hope so. But when we make it to the finals we really have to win this time, I can't stand another loss, that would be the fourth lost final in my life ;-)

They haven't looked overly convincing since the first match against Portugal, but you have to like Germany's chances against a depleted Brazilian squad. No Neymar, no Thiago Silva. Those are big losses for a squad that's looked a bit lackluster to begin with.

So, the match Belgium - Argentina started. Will it be a classic match against Belgium or a rematch of 1978 in the semifinal or just a disaster? Anyway, it's going to be late tonight. We start at 10PM tonight (local time)

We can't score. Costa Rica can't attack. Just wondering where this game will end.

Even if we loose, the keeper change is brilliant... :)

As a Keeper myself I think it is a big mistake to change keeper so late, Krul is not THAT good, Navas will win this battle and if Costa Rica's Penalty kicks are as good as last time we may well be saying bye bye to Holland.

I don't recall ever seeing that happen before. Is the new guy better at penalties? Its pretty insulting on the other guy and puts LOTS of pressure on the new one (the pressure is normally on the penalty taker.)

It's not insulting, Cillesen has never stopped a penalty before and Krul has has been training for the last 7 weeks to do just what he did now. And in a reaction he also stated that when Cillesen didn't make that save at the end, there would be np penalties. I think Holland has a great team on the moment, everyone is working together for that final achievement.

Before the whole cup kicked off, I had Holland facing Germany in the finals, and that still looks good. I do love the flow they play from defense to midfield, they are the best in the game there; but Robben's diving exhibitions are getting a bit blatant. As a former defender I have always hated guys who play into contact and then dive like they took a bullet to the brain when they get the contact they were playing for, and Robben has that patented leap in the air and crumple to the ground that he uses every time he gets beaten to the ball in the penalty area. The worst part is that the refs so often buy what he is selling.

Robben the Flopper is exactly why I will be cheering for whoever they play every. single. game.

Yeesh.

One hell of a penalty tactic by Van Gal. Handball style.
Krul did a good estimate on every spot kick and managed to save 2/5.

I love Robben. He's very cool on the ball.

Like all the comments.
Like the collective intelligence of the Dutch, which I think is well connected to their ability to shift formation both for their own effectiveness and to react to the opposition. I used to associate that with Italy, who are out of sorts. Everyone going to the same school and singing from the same hymn sheet may help. The Ajax academy is looking good here.
Robben has those characteristics of astonishingly good close control, speed and strength. More than ever at this tournament, he is putting his qualities at the team's disposal. The main reason for any defender to dislike him is that he's so damned hard to play against. He looks to go down too easy, too often. If I tried the stuff he does I'd just fall over anyway. He's the player more likely than any other to get into situations where a defender trips him. He should try to avoid the soft option (falling), yes, but the problem lies with the ref's judgement too...
Dunno, MAK, I could come on for penalties. I tend to drift a bit if I'm between the sticks for a whole game but I have this great technique... I guess being superannuated and overweight puts it all in the realm of reminiscence, but it worked for van Gaal, didn't it.
