Yeah, really I did... I'm a little sorry I didn't take a picture of it 1/2 buried, face down, in fine sand, but I'm afraid I reacted before I thought about it...
Amazingly, a bit of canned air blown at a tangent around all the control rings and filter threads (I have a B+W clear on it), and all is well. No grit, no grinding, no sand or fine dust left anywhere....
I was terrified for a little while, but now I'm rather thrilled with just how well the little Fuji dealt with this, and figured it deserved a thread.

On another happy note, my 1Dmk III will be home tomorrow after a trip to the repair shop.. Had to buy a new mirror and shutter assembly as the one in the camera gave up the ghost a month or so ago and stopped lifting the mirror. $465 and I'm back in business with a brand new shutter - you can bet I'm going to really have no fear now about machine-gunning the shutter on that body, given that the shutter is rated at 300,000 shots.
Maybe I'll even get in on a few challenges again sometime soon... Sorry about being MIA so often around here lately, I've just been super crazy with a move, and re-balancing my life. :D |
