took this pic of a bee in the camelia mid afternoon today, there's a blue edge round the top right petal....why? resizing with PS made the blue edge even more noticeable. I used the flash as overcast day and was getting a lot of shadows w/out F5.6, ISO 100, 1/160

Purple fringe or Chromatic Aberrations the bane of digital photography. Seems to happen between transitions of dark and light.

That's a problem with several digital cameras (including my Canon G5). It's called purple fringing, and it seems to be mostly an optical problem. It happens at edges that have a high contrast, but does not always show. You can usually make it go away by stopping down. I guess in your case the outer part of the petal had a very bright lining which created the purple effect.

thankyou....I cropped the purple fringe out and left the focus on the bee

Quick fix. I went into Photoshop, selcted the area where the blue occured, just a square selection. Selcted Hue/Selection and desaturated the Blue. It worked.
