Merry Christmas to all my flip'n'blend friends!

In the interest of better organization, I'm going to try putting all the variations from a single original into their own folder/gallery inside the main one, so it should be easier to scroll through.

Even after all this time, I am sometimes still amazed at what shows up in a flip n blend:

I am constantly surprised at what turns up in flip n blend:

And Paul your renditions are getting more complex every day. Nice work.

Thanks ΓΆ€” actually, I keep trying to simplify ... all those tiny color specks are hard to see at low-resolution and make much larger files.

LOL - this one's funny. The thumbnail looks like two entities making faces at each other.

I have just discovered I am fascinated by this process. I like making adjustments to layers along the way. Very interesting how the changes appear and what actually has an effect on the image.

Aha, hooked another one! Lately I find that images with less fine detail and fewer colors tend to work "better" without turning into nothing but riotous specks of color (like this) ...

A few years ago I had a portfolio folder of Kaleidoscope images - shots I made through the various scopes I have (I collect them and in fact have quite a few). The response from the population at the time was minimal and eventually I took it down. This process mimics very closely the effects the various scopes I have produce. I even have a challenge entry or two that were shot through a scope or with a scope...

Although I have not posted, I have been shooting and processing with every intent on the final result. I agree that the more minimal the image the more 'synchronicity' you can create while not maintaining an exact 'mirror' all the time as many of your images demonstrate. But I also love the simple complexity you can create from the right 'busy' image.

Edit to add:

Challenge entry through the scope:

Challenge entry of part of a scope:

Re-edit to add:
And here is the part of the scope shot flipped:

Might have been better if I cropped it to the 'corners'.

Maybe that's one big reason I like these, I've always like kaleidoscopes, and keep meaning to try and make my own ...
