ok, you both are 50% correct. It's the confluence with the Amazon and Tapajós rivers in front of Santarém, Pará
An amazing place, I was there last September.
BTW, happy anniversary Bear

I thought I missed only the state, sorry :(
Yes, you're absolutely correct!
I went there last October and loved the place. I never saw so many kinds of cactus in my whole life. |

What's protocol? I think we can just skip mine as Lele has posted and Scott answered correctly.
Mine was Vassar College campus, Poughkeepsie, NY.
To quote Wikipedia: "A designated arboretum, the campus features more than 200 species of trees, a native plant preserve, and a 400-acre (1.6 km2) ecological preserve."
Scott - you're up. |

Do you know what kind of tree it is? I'm just curious since I did a lot of googling in an attempt to find it. |

Thanks. I'm actually headed out for a while and to not disrupt the flow of the game would like to turn it over to Are or whomever is ready. |

I believe it is the London Plane Tree mentioned in the Vassar Encyclopedia:
"For many years, Vassar College was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the London Plane tree on the library lawn, which sported the longest unsupported branch in the world. The record was held until one year when the Guinness representative showed up early, and noticed that the college had failed to remove the wire support attaching the branch to the tree trunk, as they had done in previous years. This legend is unconfirmed." |

Interesting — I just heard something about the Plane tree being a hybrid of European and American species, and that it's the most popularly-planted urban tree in the world ... |

That is interesting. I had never heard of the London Plane Tree until we had visited the Vassar campus and I had forgotten what the tree in the photo was until Trollman asked and I had to look it up. But then again I'm a rural-ite and our trees came with the land, we didn't have to put in new ones :) |

No one is guessing anymore for GeneralE's image? Then it is time for a new one.
Name the place and describe it's connection with music.
