Anyone try MC2 Technologies batteries? Found this at After5PM.net, and you buy one get one free, free shipping too!

Canon BP-511 by MC2 Technology (1500 mAhr)
Code: MC_HE-XLBP511
Price:$24.99
In Stock

Haven't bought from After5PM but they have good reviews on resellerratings.com

I'd appreciate any replies on these or other "clones". I'm not trying to cheap out on the batteries, I am also considering Sunpak for $27 each, or Lenmar for $34. But while I trust Lenmar, I did read a bad "user review" of it. If there's no difference here, why throw away the money?

That looks like a good deal. I ordered two and I'll try them out. I have been leary of 3rd party batteries tho.

BP-511 for $11.99 (1300mA)

//store.yahoo.com/sterlingtek/index.html

I got two of them an the charger. The charger was $19.99, is dual voltage and includes the car adapter.

The batteries last longer than the original canon battery and the charger is quick.

John,

I never found another option--I meant to just go ahead and order these from After5PM.net, but I didn't yet.

Did you get yours? How do they work, and are they well made? I probably need to go ahead and order: one of my two existing batteries hardly holds a charge anymore.

Thanks John. Did you get the 1500 mAh or the 1300 mAh?

Does anyone know if, other than poor mfrg, higher capacity can cause problems--e.g., with the charging system (I use the Lenmar Mach 1)?

These are 1500mAh. I put both of them in my battery grip as soon as they were charged.

I'll throw in my 2¢... when I had my 10D, I bought 2 "generic" BP-511 batteries for cheap off eBay. Although they appeared to work OK when I first got them, after a month or two they would not last anywhere close to as long as the other two (name brand) BP-511's that I had. After experiencing "short battery life syndrome" several times, I quit using those two generic batteries anymore, since they would go from showing a full charge to empty way too quickly.

(BTW, I got my second battery that I was very happy with from Battery Barn, called the AC-511. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.)

By contrast, I had some regular old AA batteries that I bought in Korea. They were generics and foreign. I was leery, but for the price, had to try it. They lasted for freaking ever. I still use them a year later and they get at least as much life as my brand new, bought in April Energizers. And they are the same MAh as each other. So it really just depends.

I ordered from them back in May. Pretty happy with my purchase. I was hesitant at first because it was darn cheap but works well.

Question to those that use the battery grip: Is there an advantage to loading 2 batteries at once?
