I know - I don't remember why we decided on Sugarsync. Btw we collected 16GB through recruiting lost hosts on SugarSync but in February it will all be gone :-).
Will check later a box.com account I used to have, with 50GB there at one point. Hope it's not gone too. I would prefer something which doesn't require registration, invitation, installing an app, etc. |

Might be an idea to download all the photos people posted to sugar sync so we have them come the final day of printing and selection for the long awaited bookâ€Â¦ I had a computer crash out and do not have any link or way to get to the sugar sync folder :( |

Box has a 10GB free account, but it looks like you can only have one "user" so we'd all have to share the same login to upload files -- 10-user account is $5/month and 100GB. |

that, or maybe when Click-Music complete their visit, Lost could go to CEJ and then on to you when you return. That would make the times work out pretty well.
I'm not kidding, btw. My 80th bday is in June next year, and I DO want to see Lost before ... well, before... well, you know... |
You know, I find that surprising.... Wouldn't have imagined you to be over 65, no way.
As Bear said, I suspect there's plenty of youth left in you. :D |

Some images from this week. Hubby and I were out with him as weather (and time) permitted. We've had a nice visit.
We are hoping for good weather on Monday and an opportunity to get Lost to the big city for some more photo ops
The plan is to ship him off to Brighton Beach on Tuesday!

We just heard from Techo, and Lost is with him and having a wintry blast. We should have him on Cape Cod right around the first of the year, and we'll get him to Boston to Bohemka shortly after that. All is well :-)

I hope so :-(. I'm starting to think Lost must be stranded aboard a boat locked in ice somewhere between Long Island and Cape Cod. Not that we are planning any photo outings right now in the current temperatures... |

You should nominate Ms. Placed for the position of Lost-and-Found Manager over at Car Talk — the position appears to be currently unfilled ... ;-) |

Lost has arrived! He hopped out of his cozy little package all rested and raring to go, camera at the ready. Techo had included some Jersey Shore sea shells to keep him company, and he says he could hear the sound of the sea even over the rumble of the mail truck's tires over the highway north. Lost was delighted to find that a postcard from his Uncle Percy had preceded him to our little sandbar in the Atlantic, and we think we saw a sentimental tear drop from his eye, although it might just have been a reaction to the bracing, arctic winds we're currently experiencing.
In any event, he's working his way through a bowl of kippered herring right now, and looking forward to a bit of a wander when the winds die down :-)
Note that he has his own little camera :-)

Lost begged us for an outing. We tried to reason with him. We told him the wind-chill factor was below 10 degrees, and he responded "Perfect penguin weather!" We told him we didn't want to take OUR cameras out into the cold and sleet, and he said "You can use MINE!"
So we did. As you can see, it's filthy. But Lost had a great time down by the harbor. That's ice in the background. We had to restrain him from taking the plunge.

We took Lost over to the fishing boats at Wychmere harbor, just down the road from us a mile. Needless to say, he was thrilled: fish, after all, represent life to him. He could hardly contain himself, and we had to chuckle watching his gleeful gesticulations.
Unfortunately, Lost's joy was short-lived. Apparently, he had assumed we were taking him out to FISH! We tried to explain that the boat was icebound, that the wind-chill factor on the bay was sub-zero, and that anyway it wasn't our boat, but he wasn't having any of it.
He's a very stubborn penguin, this is becoming obvious. Anyway, we got him back in the car and went looking for some Lost-size ice floes for him to play on.

LOL! Yep, he's stubborn. When he got here he wanted me to let him make booze from some smoked salmon. I said no and pointed him in the direction of the blackberry bushes. The rest is history ;-) |

If you've never seen a Penguin chortle and cavort with glee, look no further: this is Lost in his element, hopping from ice floe to ice floe. It looked a little cold to us, but we had a hard time luring him out away from the water. Penny kept an eye on him while I drove to the market for some more kippered herrings, and we baited him out: he DOES love his kippers :-)

After the tiny-ice-floes episode, Penny and I were chilled to the bone, so we took our antipodean visitor to the Lost Penguin Pub down-cape, where we could all get warm. Penny and I ordered hot drinks and some comfort food (Lost had a nice glass of ice water, heavy on the ice) and that's when Lost discovered the French Fry... Kippers 'n Chips is his new dream meal.
From the Lost Penguin Pub we wandered over to Coast Guard Station Chatham and the Chatham Light. Lost was visibly moved while reading the plaque describing heroic sea rescues performed from this very spot, and asked us to take a picture of him saluting the heroic men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard. It was a solemn moment for all three of us.
From Chatham Light we traveled up to the Fort Hill overlook, where Lost finally was able to get himself oriented within the greater geography of the region. He asked a lot of questions, which we did our best to answer, although we're not trained geologists and his questions were surprisingly technical. We suppose that makes sense, that an intelligent penguin would have a deep interest in all matters littoral :-)
To most of us this view from the Fort Hill overlook may be a bleak and barren expanse of not-much-at-all: it certainly would have been easy to frame "prettier" images from this viewpoint, but Lost liked this one best of all. We guess that to a penguin, the vast sweep of nothing-much-at-all is a comforting thing :-)
On the way out of Fort Hill, Lost spied this unusual walkway arch made out of a Right Whale's jawbone, and insisted that we stop. Apparently penguins and Right Whales share the same territory for much of the year, and this arch (at the Penniman House on Cape Cod National Seashore) reminded him of home.
Basically, everything's starting to remind Lost of home :-) We think he's missing his family, to tell the truth. But he's a strong little penguin, and he's soldiering on.
Hoping to assuage Lost's homesickness, we took him to Rock Harbor in Orleans and convinced him that these were super-powerful binoculars (for HIM, a monocular we suppose) and that he'd be able to see home through them.
Amazingly, the illusion worked. He giggled and squirmed a bit, and left this place a much happier penguin than he'd been coming in :-)

I'm even closer -- but everyone is spoiling him so much, I'm afraid that he's going to expect something wonderful! I don't know that our small town can even begin to come close to the wonders of the cape! |

Glad to see the little guy having so much fun in Bearland! And if he keeps up the kippers and chips diet, that little box could start to weigh a lot ;-) |
