It is funny that the first few were things guys can do well, that irk their wives. The ones the ladies remember seem like husbands with a death wish.
Kitchen items as a gift or cleaning out her closet ? Jaysus man, how deep a hole are you going to dig for yourself? |

Ahem... in these here parts, the "matrimonial home" is equally owned by both partners, and this also applies to unmarried couples who have lived together for a specified period of time.
Just saying.

I once offered to purchase a ticket to some exotic far away place for the missus.
Do you think that the fact that it was a "One Way" ticket is what might have set her off? :O)

Reminds me of Winston Churchill's famouse riposte (slight parasphrase?):
WOMAN: If I was married to you I'd put poison in your tea.
CHURCHILL: Madam, if I was married to you I'd drink it. |

Ah yes... his famous reply to Lady Astor, she who is also remembered for referring to the troops deployed in Italy as the "D-Day Dodgers"...made a lot of friends with that quote she did, and even inspired a song that I remember my dad singing with his old military buddies.

Not if there is a written contract, essentially a pre-nup, in place and it's been less than 3 years. |

Easiest way seems to be to forget that she is the most important person in your life, taking anything she does for granted, and not letting her know on a regular basis that you really do love her beyond words...

How about having to tell her that you gotta leave for a year (deployment)

You guys are WAY ahead of me cause you have a clue what you did.... I'm usually left scratching my head trying to guess what I did, didn't do or should have done or my favorite - some combination of those in some sequence :-) |

I can't say she loved me being gone. But she did, and still does, love me. She understood that I did not have a choice in the matter.
Robs, when we have no clue, we usually aren't paying attention. Well, maybe excepting during pregnancy. And then, the wise course is to never ever mention hormones or chemical changes.
Though I am a little puzzled as to why she has put up with me for over 40 years... |

Do everything you seemingly can to piss her off, and then tell her/family doctor/anyone who'll listen that she is irritable.

You might want to check up on that pre-nup stuff Here
You are correct regarding the 3 year rule in Ontario, unless of course there is a child involved.
One must also take into consideration that the "common law" approach to such scenarios differ from one province to the next.

Borrow all of her lighting equipment, then never return it.
I hear that has pissed off a woman before.... |

I read a story about a guy who had joined the National Guard in the 1990's without telling his wife and had somehow managed to disguise his training as "business" trips or weekend trips with the guys for years...until 9/11 and his unit got called up for deployment.
I'm sure he had some 'splainin to do... |

Good to hear.
Mine was simply an effort to inform people that pre-nups are not necessarily cast in stone, that property laws vary from one province to the next, and that having children is a major component in the equation.
Not everyone is as well versed and cautious as you are my friend.
