I like the reworked image because it creates more mood and focuses the photo on the emotion in the image. I think your red is a little too saturated now- maybe taking it down will help it relate more to the rest of the photo. |

after - most definitely :)
when you're in love, your memory is severely altered (crippled? ;) i think the spot color (red - nice) emphasizes the blowout and loss of detail.
actually, i would be curious to see the same effect with no cropping...

Desaturated the red a bit...does it help?

NO! :) the saturation works very well at a high level! the desat version looks like the memory is fading...

I would have to say that I like the original much better. What are you trying to achieve with the post production? If you are trying to subdue the background, try selecting the background (or easier select the kids then inverse) and use gausian blur on the background! |

I don't know if I was really trying to achieve anything specific in post; just something different and eye-catching. Plus it gives me an excuse to horse around with Photoshop...I have just enough of a basic understanding to be dangerous! ;o)
original image (poorly) gaussian blurred

I like the desaturated version better because it gives it a more old time, classic feel. But, as always, tie votes go to the photographer. (ie- If half my comments say "I don't like sepia!" and the other half say "ooh, nice sepia tone" I figure the tie goes to me and what I want!) |
