So.
Langdon, you sir are a comedic genius. And an evil genius. And just evil. :D
ROFL..
Seriously though, does anyone have even the foggiest idea what the heck this should look like? Is it just a freestudy with an uber creative name? |

I've seen that before of course, and envied the ribbons.
But in the end, I'm thinking it's a FS, I don't see any real ability to follow, or not follow the directions and description.
Oh well, a good enough way to start this off. Unexpected for sure, that's a nice touch.

One thing I did notice from the last round - it seems the highest scores had a contradictory title.

Create a photograph that does not meet this challenge, or the one before it.
So, the one before it is cats ... so anything but cats so it doesn't meet that challenge, but then it would meet this challenge ... so it has to be cats ...

It is essentially a Free Study, but IMO, it should be a little convoluted or outrageous and/or have a contradictory title as you mentioned. Visual paradoxes would meet the challenge and therefor should be DNMC'd. ;-)
Oh, and I got yer DNMC right here. |

I got wonderful comments for meeting the does not meet criteria last time -- with a photograph of a page of text.
Although commenter scores averaged 7.6, total score suffered, with six 10's swamped by eight 1's for an overall score of 4.86. So literal approach may not be the best. |

Ok guys, don't take it too seriously. It's an expert editing free study :)
You just have to pay attention at the title ;) |

Somehow, paradoxically, to "not meet the challenge" is to meet the challenge, and therefore does not meet the challenge.
Reminds me of the ancient Greek story where a Lawyer takes and apprentice on and instructs him for free, payment due only when he wins his first case. The apprentice becomes a lawyer but decides not to practice, hence avoiding payment. But the wise instructor sues the Apprentice for payment. If the apprentice uses the defense that he has not tried a case and won yet, he wins a case and therefore owes payment. If the young apprentice simply loses the case, he has to pay.
Moral of the story? No free lunches in Ancient Greece, or DPC.
Can we all just agree to not meet the cat challenge? |

Couldn't the student simply get a different lawyer to represent him? |

That is one of many solutions to this counter-dilemma. Perhaps the solution is do not enter the challenge, or have someone else enter for you?

Or... Is "the one before it" referring to the previous DNMC challenge?

The description says .... does not meet "A" or "B". So, this does not throw it to "Cats". |

Well, I'm just focusing on the fact that we only have to participate in one of the three weekly challenges to be counted toward the participation bonus for our team - bring on the next challenge :) |

Can someone from the SC shed light on this challenge? I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the perimeters. Thanks |

Well, as a Marine you SHOULD understand perimeters, even if *parameters* occasionally elude you. But, to answer your question, SC has nothing to do with challenge choices and, in my experience, never enters into any attempted-definition wordplay on these.
Do something crazy that does NOT have your face in in it, is my advice, since your wonderful mug seems to meet every challenge in which it's entered :-) |
