I tried this but you still have to then go chase up each of those challenges.

I think I've found something that works. Go to Photos >Browse >Lowest rated, click an image, then you can just follow the DQs which follow (if there are any).

In response to the OP...

Try a Boolean search of the DPC site on google for disqualified images.

Not all those images that come up are DQs.

It's long winded, but I've been selecting challenge topics that I enjoy and searching only those DQs. It's less daunting than trying to search the whole database. Not that I've shot anything and most likely wont get round to it

I am probably wrong here, but I assumed that the challenge was expert to allow those who use an expert image to still be within the rule set. I also assumed (probably wrong again) that the image you choose should be done with the same rule set as the original. Just my take on it. Any other thoughts on this?

"Find a photograph that was previously disqualified and recreate it without suffering a disqualification of your own"

The description doesn't say a thing regarding the rule set of the original.
The way I read it, nothing says you have to use the same rule set as the original version.

The way you assume it however seems logical. After all, someone who picks out a DQ out of an expert editing challenge, might have a hard time recreating it out of expert editing rule set.
On the other hand, a DQ out of an advanced challenge, might be much easier to recreate under expert editing.

OK. This challenge is a little too convoluted for my liking. What's acceptable, what isn't, do this, do that. I'll pass. Life's too short. I'll wait for another challenge that apparently is infantile enough for a bloke like me to understand.
09/22/2013 02:10:44 PM · #33
I didn't find it that difficult, pick any DQed image from any challenge, try to emulate it and submit under expert editing rules..
09/22/2013 02:42:10 PM · #34
You guys are intentionally being obtuse, right? It couldn't be simpler: The current challenge is to use the expert ruleset to re-create any DQ'd image you want, regardless of the original image ruleset.

However, I do have a question about crediting the original image. Since there always seems to be an issue with recreating images and properly crediting them for comparison in the current challenge, are we supposed to refer to the original we're recreating in the title? Or....?

@Jay, we can create a tempest in even the smallest teacup, so if you're going to wait for clear skies before entering, you might be sidelined for a while, LOL!!! Just go to the last page of any challenge ever done on DPC, choose any image with a pink bar on it, and edit to your heart's delight. The "expert" ruleset means you can pretty much do anything. It doesn't mean you HAVE to do everything.

Johanna, I think the best way is after the title use the image #, the numbers at the end of the address bar. Anybody can then access the image your emulating by opening any image on DPC and replacing the number with the ones you post in the title of your submission.

JOHANNA! That sounds like you're encouraging people to choose the ACTUAL ENTRY, which they didn't even shoot, and reprocess it... You can't mean that, can you?

No, of course not. I mean "get inspired by" then shoot your own version, followed by the rest of it.

Is that better, Bear?

That's great. Thanks!

I found one!

....and now my garage stinks in effort to emulate it:-( Will see if any shots from it are usable.

We'll, I tried... It seemed to work for the most part.

I know because there are at least two of mine - one DQ'd the other not. So then I checked some others that looked familiar and found the same thing.

Here, if you guys need to search the site for ALL the DQ's you can find.

Try this Google string, I think you'll find it works better.

site:dpchallenge.com/image.php "Disqualification Details"

That put up three results - one of them my own.

The link worked for me... brought up 5,500 results. I don't know if every one is a disqualified image, but everything in the first 20 pages was. Should have lots to pick from. :)

That worked, so thank you (and no, it wasn't so hard) but when I tried it before I copied and pasted your suggestion, so it wasn't anything I copied wrongly.

LOL..

Just having fun with ya, don't take it seriously. ;)

FYI - if you want to have an easier time yet, go to the images tab from that query. :D

I did, but about 18 rows of images down they turn into thumbnails that don't link properly to the actual images... doesn't matter anyway... doubt I will have time for this this week.

Aha! That seems to work better, thank you Cory. Now all I have to do is find one I think I can redo ... and do it ... hmmm, that should be easy shouldn't it?
