Can anyone tell me if the Nikon Capture software that comes with the D70 for working raw files is a 30-day evaluation version? |

Once you install the software, it allows you to work with RAW files in photoshop (I have CS, but i assume the older PS have the same functionality). The photoshop RAW driver allows you to alter the typical RAW file settings like exposure level and white balance.
As for being trial software.. I didnt realise this was the case? I don't use it anyway, but there you go.. learn something every day.

Be aware that Photoshop 7 will not read D70 recorded EXIF data correctly. Among other things, ISO data is unavailable via Photoshop. I talked to Nikon ... they said "We're recording it according to standard." I talked to Adobe and they said, "Try downloading a trial of Photoshop CS. We're not sure whether it will work but we don't intend to fix 7."
So plan to use Nikon or other non-photoshop software to "prove" the integrity of your photos. |

CS does not read the ISO setting, either.

So , say some D70 pwner decides he/she doesn't want to use Nikon's software ; Does the lack of ISO & Exposure compensation info deprive them of their photo's integrity ? Even though the date etc., is available . Just a thought ? |

I'm not sure. When you submit a photo, you need to provide F stop, exposure time and ISO. If asked to prove your photo, you need to submit the original. Not sure what site committee looks at (or what software they use to verify) to verify your original photo. Good question for them. |

All the data is there, it's just some software doesn't read it correctly. I wouldn't be concerned.
