I made an order from RRS recently. Their web page had a box to add special instructions for my order. So I asked for a drawing of the unicorn from Blade Runner. My order arrived with this inside the top of the box.
I really like RRS. When I broke my BH-55 through misuse, they simply fixed it for me for free. They're awesome. The unicorn proves it. |

That's pretty awesome Customer Service in a time where there is a lot of worthless vendors. Not to mention a pretty cool Unicorn!! |

Wow, that's awesome.
Having had worked in manufacturing, I really would have liked to see that request process through their business. Did they have meetings about the best way to do it? How many working-hours were lost in its creation? Did the creators put their time under a different labor code for their time cards? Did they all gather and take photos with it when it was complete? OR... was it just one single creative chap who did it without anyone else knowing? The mind whirls with possibilities... |

That's freaking awesome. I've gotta see this - I think you MUST have photoshopped that.

I have no idea about any of that, but I feel obligated to send a real letter, via postal mail, to the owner of the company thanking him and his employees for it. |

It was between the zoom and the 40mm plastic pancake, and sadly I couldn't afford both. |

Cory no longer thinks I photoshopped my unicorn in.

Be careful, the "boss" may not know his employees are wasting valuable company time on frivoulous activities providing exceptional service and creating loyal customers ... I wouldn't want that employee to get a pink slip instead of the gold star you envision ... :-( |

A good consideration for sure - just send the letter in a way that the employee (and by extension you) can't be identified. |

This is a small company, with only a handful of employees and a good reputation. I think I've spoken to every one of them, including the owner, on the phone at one point or another. I'm not worried at all. |

Well then, if you are sending it postal mail you should include a gold star for maximum effect ... :-)
Too bad this kind of thing isn't more pervasive. |

You could send in a complaint that it wasn't actually a drawing. It's clearly a stencil and spray paint. |

As someone who watches very little television and didn't even know who Paula Deen was or why she caused such a ruckus.... what is RRS?
Thanks! |

Cool - thanks! (I thought the really right stuff comment in the title pertained to the customer service - never made the connection to the acronym. Duh.)
