First off, I have no experience whatsoever with portraits, so I really could not do this woman justice. Also, this was taken in her dark little apartment with no setup at all, so don't expect much...

Anyway, this is Velma. She's my non-related-grammy, my mother's husband's mother, and she's truly a remarkable person. She's been battling cancer on and off for years; she "beat it" for the most part several times, and she still has not given up, although she was put on morphine a few days ago. Any prayers or good wishes you could send her way would be nice. :)

I just thought I would share this photo, though I know it truly cannot convey the beauty of who she is. It's pretty raw... I thought it was better remaining for the most part unedited.

A brave lady, Velma is at least blessed with having her loved ones around her at this time.
I will include her in my prayers tonight,
God bless Velma, I hope you keep up the fight.

I wish the best for your grammy and her whole family. She has loving eyes, there must be a strong bond between the two of you.

Will add Velma to my prayers. Have lost several family members to cancer. Keep us posted on her progress!

Thank you all, it means a lot to me. I have already lost two relatives to cancer this year alone, and am hoping that somehow I will not lose another in the near future. Velma is very much a stubborn fighter - much like my father, who has beaten it twice so far - and if anyone can do it, she can.
