Alright, here's a relatively "straight" attempt that preserves context:

This was denoised in Nik Define, processed in Nik Color Efex Pro, and refined for color tone and a little texture in One One's Perfect Effects 4
06/28/2013 11:07:19 AM · #29

Used parts of this tutorial

also made basic adjustments in light room, used tonal contrast and glamor glow in niks color efex, topaz clarity, warming, and librodo sharpening.

i'm game for this.
are there rules for editing allowed (such as the rulesets in place for challenges)?

and i may not be able to make it in for an entry this week (7 house guests a week after we moved and haven't finished unpacking) - but the idea of this greatly appeals to me!

Invite sent.

No specific rule sets for this. Only ask that you list the steps you took, so others can learn from it.

This is photo manipulation (expert editing) using many steps,
I don't know how to write and GeneralE knew it.
Here I share what I can. Digital artist might easily know how it was done.

The composites.
Main 800px Gamer Girl dpc image.
A new layer landsacpe 800 x 570 fill with the BG color from girl image.
A girl hand image credit to mossi889.
A stardust texture by Coby17.
A round brush stroke and a burst stroke.

Gamer girl: Half of the head recontruct. so the girl eyes direction move slightly upward.
The right hand shoulder was a new rotate and paste image, pointing slightly downward.
To see the difference, copy both the original and mine. Move the ori to same angle and toggle on/off between them in photoshop.

The hand was color match then joint by copy and clone. refine it by brushing and using smudge tool to make it even.

Dodge and burned.

A round brush stroke fill with fire like gradiant. A burst stroke on it.
I'm using this brushes just to save time. Indeed, many better choices available.

Stardust texture layer reduce opacity. Clone away the stardust dots around face.

For blending, variable opacity of blending mode was use mostly multiply, overlay, screen, hue/sat, colorize.
My choice of warm/cool effect similar to photoshop "image -adjustments - photo filter"
but I'm using "new layer - fill - warm (ff9933) or cool (33ccff) - overlay or soft light - reduce opacity to taste"

For more details, I think only print screen slides can tell more.
I hope to be able to create tutorial slides sharing with everyone,
and the files might be around 80 HD images approx. 400mb
but not soon, and may require larger jpeg + chesire permission to use it.

Found an stock photo of an HDR background.
in PS masked out all but the car and boy
adjusted levels, dodges and burn to make it the scenes match.
added a flare image on a screened level.

in LR adjusted clarity, pulled down green saturation, adjusted temp, crop and a bit more dodge and burn.

Quick rough edit, masked out car and put in my own background, basic adjustments, topaz clarity, color efex, black and white on luminosity and lots of dodging and burning and turning on the lights.

Kinda surprised neither of you took out the reflections on the front of the car. The white pickup. The Arch? Or the white spots on the grill... bugs?

I didn't pay attention until I was done, figured it wasn't too out of place in my scene. I really wanted to add a godzilla but don't have any of those images around.

jejeje. Not very convincing, but fun. Extracted car and kid from original, flipped, placed in golf course, embellished wit Color Efex Pro.

could spend a little more time to get his color right but the old reflections were a bear to get rid of and still didnt get them all.

I think you should set up some sort of rotation for posting source images -- I don't think speed should be put in competition with quality or creativity ... if there's a three-day deadline there should be three days for everyone to submit on an equal basis, and a rotation eliminates the need to score the photos.

A background change with one of my shots adjusted in EFex pro.
Forgot to keep track of post work this time but the basics were:
Camera raw adjustments to wb, exp, contrast, clarity, probably other sliders.
CS; Dodge and burn, clone on the car a bit.
