You're right...it doesn't take any photographic skill to preplan lighting on all elements to create a "realistic" scene. Nor does it take photographic skill to ensure you shoot at proper angles to create proper perspective when combining such pieces.....etc
So no ...it's not point and click photography, it requires much more skill than that. I coach soccer and this comes up a lot . People want to squash creativity or people that are skilled. How often do your hear People yelling at a skilled player that he should pass more...or special rules set in place to make it "fair" for others? How often do you hear "what a showboat " Why criticize? Let them flourish!!! Let them show their skills in hopes that others will aspire to newer heights...wherever that height may be.
I don't participate in expert editing for several reasons...but I can certainly appreciate the photographic elements and skill required to create such an image.
