Depends on where you are.

One thing that I heard that was a bit odd was how Nikkor was pronounced in a TV commercial. Pronounced Nee-Kore, not Nick-or like I had always assumed it was pronounced (and oddly, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Nikkor. It's always a Nikon lens).

I always pronounced it NIGH-con and NIGH-cor, but when yuo watch those videos of the crazy asian guy with the British accent he says NICK-con and NICK-cor.

I seem to be hung up on Pronunciation.

For instance, the sport sandals you have been wearing, Tevas, are not tee-vuhs. here is the proof.

In the Midwest you only go to (the) hospital if something "needs fixed."

Or if we are visiting someone who had something that needed fixed, we can be fixing to go...

I love how diff folk and even diff area's of the country have their own ways of saying things... Kinda like around here if some one say's "Bless their heart or Bless your heart" It actually means Your and idiot... :) bless ya'lls little heart

It Japan, they can't properly say 'McDonald's'. My last name is McDonald and they don't get that it's the same as the fast-food chain until I pronounce it the way they CAN understand it, which is makudonarudo. I try to get my students to learn the proper pronunciation but they have a really tough time with it and I just go with Jason. Their language limits them to a degree and it take a great deal of practice to get it right. We don't have the same excuse...

And, as Pug said, if you pronounce something slightly off in Japan, they don't know what it is your saying. I don't get it. In English, you can be way off and take a good guess at what they are trying to say. I remember reading something about how different cultures/languages try to resolve communication in different ways...gonna go look for that article

I knew it all along. And with respect to Thule, there is a facility right near me in CT.

However we do have a Thames river that is not pronounced the same as in London...(Much the same as Houston street in NYC is not the same as in Texas)

I have always heard you eat pee-cons and put pee-cans under the bed at night. For the record I say pee can, p'kahn sounds a bit pretentious.

Ant vs. Aunt as well...

But it always cracks me up to hear Germaine from Flight of the Concords say "Ke-babs" with an a like" flab" instead of" bob"s
