According to the code these were the scores, let me know if there is any inconsistencies.

Would it be that hard for you guys to post the team matchup results like this for all teams/weeks? I just ask so that we can kinda see how close things were readily since you are already pulling the data vs us going in for every team member. |
Does anyone but Derek like this idea?
It's certainly doable, fricken downright easy in fact.
What's beating me up is the formatting - this can be done in.. umm. minutes. |

is this not the case?
if that was the case shouldn't we have won 3-1? |
your top 3 and the opposing top 3 were all within 5 points of each other, so a draw each for those three. The final score was by a 10pt margin (>5) to the opposing team, so a win for them. |
ok i just though we'd get at least some points for the ties, and not give away ALL the points based on how the fourth best played out.
6 heavy hitters go at it in one week and now some other team is able to jump up in the standings?
something to think about for next TPL.

That data already exist, I don't post it because is just unreadable in the thread format. We are working in a proper formatting but I can provide it in the raw format if you want to, a bit nasty to read though.

Each tie receive 1.5 point to each team, but is the same for both so the decisive score is the forth. The final score of the whole team is always 3, 1.5 or 0 (+bonus), as explained here |

Wrong, its like football where a win gets you 3 points a draw gets you 1.5 points(1 in real football) and you get 0 for losing. we add a bonus of 0.5 if all team members on a team have an entry. |

admit defeat.
don't discriminate.
sore loser you are.
lose with pride.
Just thought I stir the s... a bit, on a more serious note it is rather complex all this scoring business but it's fun being in a team. A big thanks to the people who organize it.

Yep, that's right. No skill here. I'm not sure we have a ribbon between us. Excuse me while I go and check...

Can't you add tags to the data text before posting in the thread. It will format fine that way. |

I haven't manage to find any html tags that work within this threading system except for the ones provided by the buttons in the top of the editing window. But I have not experience in this type of things so if somebody knows how to do it, help is most welcome. |

So is what you pasted the "nasty to read version" or is that altered? If that's the nasty, it's perfectly fine by me if that's what there is for the time being. |

Yep if that's the 'nasty' version, you're welcome to post it. And if you could do it separately for each week to date that'd be great. |

You just use BBCode, in this case (replace quotes with brackets) "pre" some formatted text, spacing, etc... "/pre"
1
2 3 4 5 6 7
Quote this post and you'll see the pre tags.

Here is a slighty a nice version of the "nasty" data, is all the information necessary to generate links to each user profile page, image or challenge. How nasty it is it would depend upon whatever you are used to, certainly I don't think it is right to throw all that data and expect every participant in the site to dig through it. The original structure is just a text file in csv format without heathers (they are unnecessary since the structure is fix), the intent of the file is to be source for a formatting code that hopefully we are finishing up soon. |

Everyone, please report back on how this is displaying in your browser.
Oh... And EUREKA!@
Seriously, like none of the normal BBC code works here, I tried using [Table] etc.. I had resigned myself to coding this with automated alt-255 char entry, since even pasting the ascii-255 hidden space was failing to work.
If this looks good to everyone, my life just got really, really fantastic.

For example if my opponent has an 87% in a challenge with 134 entries and I have a 92% in a challenge with only 30 entries... that seems fair to make it a tie since it was harder for my opponent to get a high percentage with so many entries. the 5% rule evens it out a bit.
But, if it's opposite... My opponent has a 92% in a challenge with 134 entries and I have an 87% in a challenge with only 30 entries, My Opponent should win. The 5% rule gives an unfair advantage to me and I should not get the tie.
That said, the rules are as they are, and I give my congratulations to Naked Pedestrians! |
Sorry for the late response, this is what has been bothering me since we developed the scoring but couldn't come up with a way to solve the issue, but now you gave an idea on how to tackle it. I think that maybe a way to account for the different number of participation would be to bracket the percentiles according to the less participated challenge of a given week. In this way all percentiles would be discretized similarly and can be easily compared. On top of this resorting it might useful to put a threshold for ties, but a value that can be related to the discretization in the small challenge and that would give ties between consecutive placements. This could be promising, certainly would make comparison between different challenges more even and it would adapt itself weekly according to the participation. I should be able to implement this in a second edition of the TPL if happens. |
