Since nobody else on this thread has mentioned it, the software is totally awesome, and absolutely worth $149. I got the whole package a couple of weeks ago because I wanted both SilverEfex and the newest version of Sharpener Pro, and it was cheaper to get the whole package than to buy both separately, even at the old price. Having the whole package saved my bacon on the image I'm using for this month's free study, which had a lot of potential, but some....ummmm....problems.....straight out of the camera. I ended up using 4 different products on one image, and the resulting image is definitely stronger than it would have been otherwise.

I downloaded/installed it to my laptop, too. This is satisfying! Then I updated to MSIE 10, even though Chrome is my default browser.

I have a quick question...

I have both Lightroom 3 and Elements 10 (I'll wait for 12 to come out this fall) which program do you recommend putting your plug-ins in? Does it really matter? Does one program have more flexibility than the other? Right now I have all my Topaz, Neat Image (don't use this much, but it's there) & SEP2 in my Elements program. But I know I can put them in either (or both???)

Thoughts?

Your plugins can go into both. I'd have them in both so that I have access to the plugins regardless of which program I choose to edit my pic de jour.

I haven't put them into LR3 yet...is it that hard??? I remember I had to do a lot of "back door" work with the Elements...(older version)

Should've been automatically linked when you downloaded the software. When you've downloaded the install file, and double click on it, it will tell you that it has detected the following editing software - Lightroom should be on that list. If not, click the + sign underneath to add LR3.

I have just bought, installed and run the Nik collection. But I can't find it. It is not in my filters, it is not in my programs it doesn't have an icon on my desktop. It is listed in my computer H drive, but when I click on that it wants to run it again and then it tells me that that file already exists and asks if I want to replace it. How do I access this collection to use it?

I'd be really surprised if it is compatible with CS3: that's a REALLY old version of PS... :-(

Oh Snap! I'd have to upgrade my PSCS3! This software just became much more expensive! >:-(

Sorry jomari. :-(

I've been wondering the same thing. There's over 200 videos on their website, so I think the answer is in there somewhere. I just wish the videos were better organized.

If you're looking at B&W conversion, the last chapter of "From Oz to Kansas" is about Silver Efex. Basically the whole book is a build up to the idea that you can use Photoshop to do all this stuff manually and get great results, but you can get better results easier using SilverEfex, and here's how...

Output sharpening in Sharpener Pro is simple. Set the output size, push the button. It sharpens.

The others, I haven't gotten very far with.

Previously, individual plugins would run around the $100 mark, with a bundle of all of them costing as much as $500. Seriously, You get the WHOLE PACKAGE for $150.00 am I understanding that correct?????? That makes em cheaper than the Topaz stuff and NIK is ohhh wayyyyyy better in my opinion
03/26/2013 03:13:24 PM · #72
I just bought the whole package last night - used the coupon code "DZISER" that was posted in the other thread on this same topic - brought the cost from $149 down to $126.65 and with taxes up to $135.52.

you could just buy Lightroom4 instead, do all the adjustments with the Nik suite, then open the tif iin PSCS3 and save for web.
That's what I do - no need for the expensive upgrade.

Thanks Oliver. I'll look into this. (And all this teaches me to download the trial first! I nearly did, too.)

Since my email went to the spam folder, and the spam folder messed up the links, and when I emailed for help, they said it would be multiple days, I just called. It was quick, it was easy, I got right through, I got the full package.
