so i have been trying to put off this engagement session i had lined up hoping the spring would make an appearance in my area. but the bride to be wants to do it this weekend.

i need idea for backdrops since everything is still brown and cold and dead. i thought about going into a town but that idea is getting old for me, im looking for something different.

Mike I don't know how far you are from the beach but that might work.
I took a bunch of shots from Long beach Long island polar bear event and unless someone was in the background with a hat and jacket you couldn't tell if it was Jan. or July.

i thought about that. I'm about about 45mins away from the closest beach, the couple lives in PA and are even further away.

i wish the Delaware stinking river had at least one nice area to take pictures outside of Philly, i can always go into the city but i need some more variety..

Haha, I'd say... If you can scout some trails, walking trails, etc... that have leaves on the ground and hopefully good lighting you should be just fine go for a walk with them, have them hold hands, and have them be the cute well dressed couple out for a walk together. Especially if they wear colors that work well with dead leaves, trees, etc. Beach is ideal, being in southern California Beach wedding/engagement photos are a dime a dozen out here but not without reason, as they are usually good. Overcast can be bad though, as it will be lots of gray, green and yellow. Clothing choices could make a world of difference in the less colorful settings.

I did a family portrait shoot a year or so ago in winter, we found an old country setting with the yellows and browns of the season (no snow here), and it worked. It helped that they were wearing off whites, dark brown boots or shoes, maybe some blues depending, a bit of sun cracking through the clouds would be ideal to get that "lovey dovey" lighting everyone likes. I am sure you are, but scout professional wedding/engagement photographers pages in your area, you can take what you like as a nudge in the right direction.

You have some really great photos on your profile, I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with after the shoot - I'm sure it ill be good. I have been asked to do another family portrait setting when I get bak home, I am going to try an use an old barn setting I know of to take advantage of the season, knowing they will dress in a country western fashion it should work well.

Good luck!

go up to bucks county near new hope. triva fact: there are more covered bridges in bucks county than any other county in the country (at least that's what they used to claim).

you might want to scout that area out, anyways. great river views, nature views, old town charms. lotsa options without having to go riding over hill and dale. there used to be a tow-path/barge in new hope. it could be a great place for a couple to get out of the city and have some fun, as well as have a shoot.
