Okay......some of you know I find mannequins fascinating, and I've had a lot of fun with this one....
This was shot where I found her in a friend of mine's warehouse.
I took her with me to the first NE DPC Strobists GTG, and we had more fun there...... TonyT even took an award-winning image of here there!

That seemed like a lot of fun, so I started to carry her around and shoot her in different places.....

Trying different styles.....
I got to talking with another DPCer who expressed some slight envy towards me for having my own mannequin, and I thought, "What the heck......", so I asked the aformentioned DPCer if she wanted to "Borrow" Susan.
Does anyone think they'd say "No" to a free mannequin to mess with as a prop??????
So....I thought it'd be cool to start....The Adventures of Susan
I thought it'd be fun to have this thing sent to you, the person sending doesn't say a word where it's going, or to whom, when they're done with her.....the new shooter gets to have her pop up in this thread and tell where she is and what her story for that leg of the adventure was all about. The only costs involved will be shipping her to the next person......sort of a weird pay-it-forward kind of thing. I must say that my choice of whom to forward her to is one of my, and many others', favorite people here and I'm pleased to send it to her....can't wait to see what she'll do!
This whole idea actually germinated shortly before Christmas and I was all set to send her on, when the young lady that works at the John Deere dealer with me was setting up a display, and was somewhat frustrated with her limited resources for display. So.....me being me.....I asked her if she wanted a mannequin to use. She said "Of course", and I told her I had one in the trunk of my car. (Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiight!)
I wish you guys could have seen the look on her face when I walked back into our showroom with Susan under my arm!!! LOL!!!
She had a part time job before she could leave!
So, that's the story of the start......she was "discovered" in a warehouse full of junk, "rescued" ands put to work as a traveling photography prop, then served duty as a model for the John Deere wardrobe......and once I finally found a darn box big enough to safely pack her into, she left me via The Little Brown Truck.......for a point yet to be revealed!
Stay tuned!

We actually used to have our own set of mannequins for Architectural Photography. Very useful. Used to get weird looks from people :-)

If there were ever any doubt in my mind whether you were weird or not, you just answered them.

Yeah.....weird looks is right. I was driving down the right lane of the interstate one afternoon, and this car full of college-age girls came up on me on the left......they were quite animated, pointing and chattering away to each other. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was going on. Then I remembered that I'd strapped Susan upright into the rear seat with the seat belt.
I had a good chuckle over their obvious confusion & amazement.....

They probably thought it was an "adult" play partner. |

When the recipient opens the package, will Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" start playing? |

Oh my... I better not let my Griselda set eyes on Susan..... Susan is so much prettier, Griselda would be jealous, I'm sure!
Look at this cruel world. Griselda was fantastic helping me set up our garage for the daughter's prom photos, and this is the thanks she got from her!

Jeez, maybe now I know why I was having these bizarre dreams about being packed into a box and shipped all over the country to DPCers! |
