Thanks Mike,
Not sure when you checked it last, by I have been busy reducing most of the files. I do however have no problems whatsoever, as soon as I click on the photo it pops up, so you must all have slow internet connections, lol!
I see your point about style, I guess that comes more with the PP, and the customer then has a choice as to what style they want to go with, but yes all valid points. |

That's why it's fast for you.
First time visiter won't have that benefit.

Oh I didn't think of that. Thanks.
Well I cleared the cache, and still working fast for me.

On this page: //anitaunderwoodphotography.com/packages/
Typo in the last line "your not happy" should be "you're not happy" - But generally the wording is difficult to read on that page, perhaps something to do with the way the line breaks are applied? - Or perhaps it's the use of the word 'thereof' I find distracting, it sounds more like a legal document. You should make the text on that page sound friendlier and clearer. |

The quality of the images in the Families section is very poor.
I'll see if I can come up with some more faults another day.

maybe just reprocess them. they are nice fun images, just overcooked. Your clients aren't going to want to get a bunch of artsy images, they are going to want normal pictures they can put in frames, hang on walls, etc.
if I am able to move any artistic processed images its usually one one per client, i usually only show one or two two my clients and its an instant add-on print sale. they never want them all that way. you need to show some plain normal images that most people will want. you should be expected to clean them up, fix color, blemishes, whiten teeth, skin smoothing etc, but pull back on the artistic stuff in your galleries to only one or two or put them in their own gallery.
you are either selling art or selling a service. pick one or both, but don't mix them. |

I dissagree with some of your statements here: You don't have to compromise artsy for a service that is the mainstream view and something i would expect to hear a lot on DPC! sorry Mike but nothing would ever change or evolve with this kind of thinking and people don't always want the standard type of portrait to hang on their walls and yes those standard ones you believe people want can be very limiting and dull however well or badly processed! And not what people want, its the perception of what people want your talking about! you need to re-evaluate that thinking. |

You have your own brand with your creative shots and what seems to be your standard processing, I for one think it's unique and refreshing, I wouldn't change a thing. |

I have no real experience and definitely no expertise when it comes to web design or professional photography. So all I can offer is how the site appeals to me. I like it! It appears you are offering a service to provide images beyond well executed professional shots and adding a unique artistic feel and emotion to the images. This may not appeal to most who want a nice family/pet/wedding etc. picture to have framed on a mantelpiece but to those who would want a large piece of personal artwork hanging prominently on a wall.
I might suggest, however, that the image of the three kids you have as part of you slide (which I believe is representing what you consider your best images) might not be the best representation of your style.
You’re getting a lot of good advice from people here who know what they’re talking about which is one of the main reasons I like DPC. Congratulations on making the big step to professionalism and good luck.

you dont have to be a designer or professional to understand what you just said and its as true now as it ever was! and thank you for saying the same thing in your words and with an understanding of it from the other perspective of someone who has the broader and less technical and professional (at this time) view of what people want. or may want! ;O) good on you for speaking up! |

There are lots of things to like about your web site - primarily it is visually appealing. Though the items Kroburg pointed out didn't jump out at me as I went through the site, once I read his comment, I'll second almost all of it.
There is a new philosophy in user - computer interface that has emerged in the past couple of years - that is to make the user guess what to do to accomplish what they want. This is seen especially in the Android and Apple phones / tablets, and now Windows 8. Your site fits more with that philosophy, so it is up to you to determine if you want to clarify its use as Kroburg suggested.
I think it a bit much to say you shouldn't be asking for money to take wedding & family pictures - value is determined by your client, not by an outside party. At any rate, you are easily 1000% better than the professional photographer we hired for our wedding oh so many years ago. And, while people can be very, very picky about their wedding pictures at the time, what they really want over the long haul is a good, clean, acceptable set of images of the event. On their 25th anniversary, that so-so picture of the family may be the most precious, because grandma, grandpa, aunt, cousin, and toddler are no longer alive. It really is about capturing images the evoke precious memories over a relatively long period of time, and not how artistically or differently you can render a person or group.
Good on you for this venture - charging for your services is a great way to put pressure on yourself to deliver quality. When you no longer care what quality of service you provide is when you need to stop - no matter how "good" or "recognized" you are.
