Good luck tome & everyone!
There are few folks that submitted rusted shots (it seems to me) while there are a lot of people that shot flowers shots. I can tell what most of them are so I think voting will be really hard bc of it. Look forward to seeing others interpretations of this to help guide my voting.

LOL! I'm sure you will do well in the next few challenges. I have a tendancy to vote yours high anyways, not even knowing they are yours in the first place.

Hmmmm, yes there are Rusted shots. However, I'm speaking in terms that those shots should be looked at and voted upon within this challenge as abtractness, and not for the rusted challenge. Just keep focused on the main point and you won't have an issue with it...Just a thought....oh, BTW....I did not submit any rusty shots. So, I'm acturally feeling that they should be viewed in abtract than the other current challenge. It's just weirdly that the two are so close and can be use for either one. I too, had almost submited my rusted shot for abtract, but thought, no to close and fear lower rateings for some reason. However, I won't grade them down for useing rust. I will vote according and fairly. My 2 cents. thanks. |

Well, my entry is going down in flames... started at a 6 and is now at 4.5 :( ... This is one of the ones I didn't enter. Does anyone think it would have done better than a 4.5?
I see many interesting interpretations of the challenge. I think I'll start with my favorites and go from there. Good luck everyone!! |

Hey! This shot works for me. I Love it and I'll give it a 8. As of right now. However, to look more closely at it and give it some thought of what it means to me. I'm sure it would higher to a 10. But and 8 at first glance. That's good tho. So is your other photos. keep it up. Oh, it's too early in the game to fret now. Hopfully, it might just shoot back up to a 5 or 6 in the next few days. It goes up and down...Have fun

I have a 5.03 after 26 votes and ZERO comments, I had a 6.2 after 4 wish it had just stayed there. Here are a couple that I like but don't think they would do to well in this challenge because you can make out the subject to easily. Like to see what others thought.

I'm in about the same situation ... I had a couple of entries which I liked but thought would be trashed for using color effects in post-processing. I'm impressed with the overall quality of the entries though.

just got my first look at the abstract entries....awesome. I'm still very new to the site, didn't enter this one cos I couldn't work out what was abstract and what wasn't....but I have a much better idea now.
OK...am off to start voting - bit tentitive still about making comments but I'll work on that.

Welcome! Make comments ... it's how you learn. Your opinion about what you like is as valid as anyone else's. |

I'm just going to look at how the lines and shapes interact together to make an effective image. I won't downgrade my vote just because I think I know what it is.

There are many great shots in this weeks challenge. Although I can tell what most entries are only a few are obvious. Many of these shots will need a second and third look. With the diverse group of DPC members it going to be interesting to see what makes the top ten. |

I have a rust shot in the abstract challenge BUT it was NOT an outtake from shots I took for Rusted. I took it on the same outting with the Abstract challenge in mind.
Where two challenges allow me to use related material I do so deliberately and I am kind of fed of of comments suggesting that my Abstract entry is an "outtake" from my Rusted efforts.
If we didn't have Rusted as the other challenge this week there would be no questions being asked about abstract images featuring rust.
I notice a lot of abstracts featuring Macros. If, instead of Rusted, the Open challenge this week was Macros, would they be considered inferior entries for Abstract because the photographer could have entered shots from the same shoot into Macros?
Judge the entries on their merit (or lack of, in my case) for goodness sake!
Every week there are comments on entries and posts on forums by people who seem to be full of glee that they have found something else to be negative about, another excuse to mark others down. Happening to meet the description of both current challenges with an entry into either strikes me as the most stupid excuse I've seen here yet.
Don't mind me, I'm just in a grotty mood and mindless comments about the fact that my abstract contains rust, that it could/ should have been entered into the other challenge etc are getting on my tits big time.

I thought about this when out shooting for both challenges. Bad timing--rust shots make great abstracts, so if you enter a rust shot into abstract, you will be criticized as reusing or misusing shots, and likewise, if you enter an abstract rust shot into rust, you will also be damned for "reusing" your abstract session.
Just remember: The one you didn't enter would have been a better choice. But had you entered that other one, it would have been the wrong choice too. ;)

Just for clarification...I did make several comments on photos (in a purely joking manner because of timing of the challenges together) about rust outtakes...but that did not impact my rating at all. In fact in the abstract challenge I had more ratings at 5 and above than ever. Just so you know...:0)
I hope you have a better day today. I hate when things get on my tits too! ;-)
