People.....this thread is for those people who love DPC. The ones who shoot, enter challenges, vote, comment, and appreciate the tremendous value given by the site and its community. It is a simple tip of the hat to its creator.

Please respect that......

Dear Langdon....

It's been ten years since you started this site. It's still here chugging along just fine, and I'm sure you don't hear "Thanks!" enough.

Pretty much everything that I know and have learned about photography has been because of this site that you created and have fostered this past decade. It's worked pretty well for me as I'm competent, comfortable, and happy today with who I've grown into as a photographer. The community that arose from, and into the DPC community is like no other, and I'm proud to be a member of it.

I will continue to shoot, enter challenges, put forth my $0.02 in the forums, and hopefully every now and then, show up on the front page......and retain my membership for as long as I can still drag my camera up to my face!

So from me.....sincerely,

Thanks, Langdon!

Hey Jeb, I've followed your portfolio here since I first stumbled upon it & enjoyed the journey very much. I did not make the rapid progress you made, but I learned a lot from watching you. Keep up the good work.

I, too, like this site the way it is. Even the malcontents have their entertainment value. I am grateful for the smaller number of entries in the challenges these days. I'm able to vote the whole challenge at one time without voter fatigue. I'm even starting to comment more.

And the side challenges have been a lot of fun, too.

Dear Langdon,

When your knee touched mine under the table, and lingered for a few brief moments, it was special.

Love,
Slippy

I've been a part of the DPC community for a year and a half and I LOVE it!! By voting the challenges, reviewing the results and reading the comments I have pushed out of my comfort zone and expanded my horizons. I have a long way to go but I am thoroughly enjoying the journey. Thank you Langdon & DPC! Laissez le bon temps rouler!

I love this place too. Some things can be changed and improved, but DPC is still amazing :)

Add me to the list of thankful folks. My life would have been immeasurably poorer these past 8 years without DPC in it.

Dear Langdon,

I've been a member since 2003 and a paying member for a few years too. I entered a whole 56 challenges in my career! I like the site. It works. It's my photography that sucks!

Love Me.

(I mean... Love, Me.)

Dear Langdon,

This site is already like my image processing program - many more options than I can manage. Thanks for what you have created already.

Thanks.

I knew very little about photography before I joined DPC. Everything I know now, I've learned from this great site you've created. Photography is now a big part of my life and it's all because of you.

Thank you Langdon.

This site is like a useful bus to take you from here to "there" ( where "there" is still a faraway place where we want to go but know about it or its location only from heresay) The bus was new but needs maintenance every so often and the road gets bumpy. The driver is very knowledgeable, patient and skilfull but occasionally gets tired and falls asleep at the wheel or pretends not to hear the awful yelling and shouting or horseing or laugter of the passengers.
As for them (passengers) they are of all kinds. A group of strangers from all parts of the world, all ages, professions, walks of life....Some started the travel when the bus was all shine and well oiled, some came later, some left, some love to fight, some doze off, some made good friendships and some hate everybody's guts, some have an attitude, some are impatients, some impertinent, some egotistical, some are very kind and some are funny and witty, some are talented, some willing to learn and some know stubornly everything without knowing that they don't know, some are lovable, some are forgetfull, some just want to get there first .... We have an entire world in an electronic bus and have to make it work for the good of the common original purpose.
Granted, few people in the States or other huge countries know the facts of life about busses since there is so much single driving their country, but we shall count on the imagination, good will and be of good cheer.
C'mon people, it's not brain surgery!
Vive la photographie!

I want to add my appreciation for this site too - and since I put away the camera for a long time I am going to need to get back in the swing of things by dropping in more - if you don't use it you lose it (my 2 entries are bombing) so thanks Langdon for having DP still here now that I want to get back into the swing of things.

Edited to correct my horrible grammar

Ummmm... I'd take a picture of my kitchen, but the health department would come and take me away. This place has turned my house into a pig sty, my children into orphans, my husband into a single parent, "honey, what's for dinner?" "nothing, numbers is due in less than 10 hours and I don't have anything yet -- I think there's still some cereal left in that empty box behind those other empty boxes back there". My daughter had a slight case of hypothermia after we stayed out all night in the mountains during the landscape at night challenge. I taught them how to trespass during the tunnel challenge. I made them go swimming in the river in November. I married my husband to my daughter in one shot. Had dead kids lying all around a college for film noir. I had to sculpt SPAM! Gotten bitten about 15 times or so by squirrels.

Yeah, I guess I can say I love this place. :)

I discovered today that I've been here 10 years, so to celebrate I've bought myself a years membership and entered my first Free Study and I'm trying to comment more. Roll on the next 10 years...
