I rented a studio and some male models for the 7th of December. I was hoping to do the last supper where we're all naked. Now I can't possibly meet the submission deadline and it'll just be me eating with 11 naked dudes. Awkward. |
Good luck :p |

I wish someone would fix the 'contast/contrast' typo on the challenge list. It's affecting my sanity. |

Apparently, Langdon has a cute sense of humor! I love it!

And i'm surprised nobody piped up about the oops thing being this challenge....
currently in voting is "you're doing it wrong" and now we get "Oops! III: Photograph something wrong"
*Slowclap*
Yes, you could say we're all busy, and we all make mistakes, but oops 3/doing it wrong on the heels of the "Silence III: Part 2" has me feeling that the wool is being pulled over our eyes. This is either some twisted sociological experiment and we're the "rats in the maze", or Langdon is trying to get a job as a hollywood screen-writer and is building up a resume of copying a recently used ideas and sticking a new name on it.
Well, if it is the hollywood one, I WANT A PART IN WHATEVER MOVIE YOU GET INTO PRODUCTION FIRST! I won the game, i get the prize! ;-)

Actually, I thought it was the same challenge, but there definitely is a difference between the two. There are definitely unexpected "oopses" even if you're not doing anything wrong. Oops is much more wide open. And actually can be a different twist on things. Think about it for a bit. :D

currently in voting is "you're doing it wrong" and now we get "Oops! III: Photograph something wrong" | I was going to, but figured what's the point. I'm glad someone else did though because it means I'm not the only one paying attention who doesn't like the current direction. |

I've retyped something here easily 5 or 6 times, some with metaphors, some without but overall the things is that i'm winding up in the same camp as so many others regarding this site. I loved it when i started. It brought my skill way beyond what it was when i arrived, and I now compare everything i do to how it would rate here. It's a good yard-stick to measure by, but it's also a painful yardstick to get bashed over the head with time and again, especially when you're not even feeling inspired to be in the yard.
I considered that oops/wrong are different enough to be different, but they're also similar enough to basically be an expert and advanced skillset of the same competition, which ironically enough is something people have been yelling to have, but not the way they wanted it. Depending on how you look at anything you can put whatever spin on it you want, that's the beautiful thing about being human. It's also one of the more terrible things. We see DPC as a great place with flaws we see fixed. Others see it as a learning site and when you're dissatisfied you leave. Others see it as the ultimate photography challenge online. Some see it as income that is relatively self-sustaining with little need to even show their face despite the cries and declining revenue.
Anyways, i've got work to get back to and hopefully some inexpensive lighting setups to find in a cyber-monday deal. |

I think you need (and myself at first) to read into the challenge a bit more. I would put money on "Oops" being a message to the community that Langdon acknowledges he messed up recently. In my mind, this is a great way to show just that. |

ill take it a step further...i think the unusual re-emergence of "silence" challenge following the "you're doing it wrong" is a subtle message. as i stated in the open letter thread, challenge topics IS his way of communicating with us, and he's been doing so for the past few weeks.
you're doing it wrong.
silence.
oops.
pretty funny if you ask me. |

oh, i agree 100% he used oops! III as a nod to his blunder. i've seen him do it before. but still, it's the second time in a week that we have had challenge duplication.
and using challenge titles as a way to interact with the community is like using a burning bush to tell people to behave: you end up with people taking their inferences from what was intended, and others who miss it entirely and wonder why some people are getting crazy notions because a bush was lit on fire. (and talked apparently, but that's neither here nor there).

I thought it was just me :) We'll see who will need Art's straight jacket first, lol
Oh, and also I think I hibernated for 47 days. Now it's only 6 hours left for the Thanksgiving challenge. Am I still kinda sane? Hmmm
